Wild Card Cartridge

I bought the Cricut Wild Card Cartridge a couple of weeks ago and finally had a chance to play with it for a few minutes. I made the Cupcake card that was included on the cartridge. I made a green and blue striped cupcake "wrapper" and a pale green "frosting". I then took clear glitter and sprinkled it over the entire frosting section and dropped a few green seed beads to look like sprinkles. I also put the green and blue striped paper on the birthday candle and used a golden colored cardstock for the flame that I colored in with gold glitter. I like how it turned out. I made the card on a white card stock base and stamped Hey Cupcake and birthday wishes onit. I am not overly excited about the overall look of the card but love the cupcake. I may cut the cupcake off the card to use on another card.

Distressed Inks

On Tuesday evening I took a class at my local stamping store on Distress Inks. The Distress Inks are a product of Ranger and were created by Tim Holtz. I had a great time at my class and learned a lot. we used four different techniques in creating cards. We used the craft sheet by Ranger and the mini misters. Here are some pictures of the cards we made. I can hardly wait until I can spend some time at home experimenting with the techniques I learned.

What I Have Been Up To

Sorry I haven't had anything to post lately. I was at a Stampin Up event yesterday and did make some cards, one for my FIL's birthday which is Friday. I have been busy today cutting out images for the paperclip bookmarks which I posted last week. The paperclip bookmark images are for work, for a craft activity for the kids that attend the summer food sites. This is my busy time of year at work closing out our year and getting ready for the auditors, and then of course setting things up for the new year. With that and the heat I just haven't had much energy to get creative. I really want to take a class on Tuesday on Distress Inks. Not sure if I will make it but I am going to call the store tomorrow to see if they still have room in the class. I am going to need to sneak out of work a few minutes early no more than 10 or 15 minutes so I can get there on time.

Paperclip Bookmarks

I came across this idea on the Cricut message board and thought it looked like a cute project to try. I will take these to work to see if our summer youth would like to add these as a craft project for the summer food kids. I had fun cutting these out. The flower was leftover from my bouquet project. The dragonfly, dog and ladybug were cut at 1 3/4" from the Doodlecharms cartridge. The butterfly was cut from the TearDrop cartridge the same size as the others. I got the colored paperclips from the dollar store.

Orange Flower Bouquet

Here is the first project I made with my new Cricut Expression. I had a lot of fun putting this together. I made the flowers using both the Plantin Schoolbook and the Accent Essentials cartridges. I cut the flowers at 3". The peach and white layered flowers I cut at 3", 2 1/2", 2" and 1 3/4". I used Skittle that I bought from Cutters Creeks and dyed by Kim Bush. (Thanks Kim). I cut the green flourishes from the Accent Essentials cartridge at both 3" and 4". I used wooden skewers that I painted green for the flower stems. The pot I got from the dollar store.

It is Wednesday!

As you can probably guess, I didn't get any more cards made on Sunday. I am very excited, my Cricut Expression should be here tomorrow, I can hardly wait. I have missed having a machine. After my little fiasco with the first Expression I tried buying I wasn't sure how soon I would get one. Anyway, I started my four 10 hour work days this week so I am so looking forward to my Friday off and a chance to play with my new toy! I will get more pictures posted as soon as I can. These longer days don't leave me much time or energy for crafting in the evenings.

Sympathy Card

Here is a picture of a card I made for the parents of a friend of my daughter. Their son passed away unexpectedly last Sunday. He was just 14.

On a happier note, I hope everyone's holiday was fantastic with our friends and family. We had a good time even though my dog was not enjoying the fireworks everyone else did. I am hoping to work on making some more cards this afternoon and will post them if I get them done. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Happy 4th of July

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July! I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. We will do our traditional 4th, a barbecue with family and friends and then we sit out along our street and all the neighbors take turns lighting their fireworks. Sometimes we get up on our roof and watch the big firework displays put on at a couple of parks near us. We are supposed to have fantastic weather so it should be a good day.

Welcome to my blog! This is my first post. I went to a card making class today and we made a cute hostess gift for your 4th of July barbecue. We used Art Blanche 6 Cell Carrier by EK Success. We decorated the carrier with red, white and blue paper. Added a tag and a ribbon and it was done. Quick and cute. Other ideas thrown out on how to use this carrier were to decorate and items for a baby shower such as bottles, baby powder, lotion, bibs etc. Use it filled for a birthday gift, wedding shower or wedding gift, hostess gift, the possibilities are endless let your imagination run wild.
