Frankie Card

Here is another Halloween card I made yesterday. The card base is a green Bazzill card stock 4 1/2" X 6". The orange mat is also Bazzill card stock and measures 4 1/4" X 5 3/4". The patterned paper is from the Cloud 9 Seasonal pack that I bought at Joann's. It measures 4" X 5 1/2". Frankie was cut from the Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge at 4" I cut all the layers but the eyes. I shadowed him in the same orange paper as the mat. I added some faux white stitched with my gel pen around the edge of the patterned paper to help it stand out a bit more. I embossed my sentiment with some black embossing powder. For some reason the lower half of the W and first E just wouldn't emboss well and most of the powder just blew off. In person the sentiment is very shiny and embossing it helped it to stand out on the card.

I find I am really enjoying the Mini Monsters cartridge. I was a little hesitant to get the cartridge because I wasn't sure how much I would use it. I have ideas for several other cards from this cartridge. I hope I can get them made soon. I need more time to craft and less time at work that would solve that problem. Thanks for visiting.

Boys Birthday Card

A friend from work asked me if I could make a card for her to give to her nephew who is turning 11 in a week. Other than the fact that he likes blue I knew nothing about it so making this card was a little harder than I thought it would be. I finally settled on a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. I stared with a white card base and added a blue mat that was cut at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8". I embossed the top half of the blue mat with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder then added a strip of patterned paper cut at 4 1/8'' X 2 1/2". I add a piece of self adhesive orange twill ribbon where the two papers met to give it a more finished look. The tennis shoe I got from the Paisley cartridge. I cut the shoe and its layers at 2 1/2". The shoe comes with two little hearts that I didn't cut since this was for a boy. Instead I cut a small black start from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge. I added some black faux stitching to the white circle with the star. I pop dotted the shoe to the card. This image on Paisley actually cuts two shoes but I only used one. I added small triangles of the patterned paper to each upper corner of the blue mat just for some additional color and to tie the card together. I hope she likes the card.

Halloween Banner

Here is the Halloween banner that I finished up this past weekend. The battery in my camera finally charged and I was able to take some pictures this afternoon after work. I had a blast making it. Thelarger bats are some I picked up from Michael's. The witches hat was cut from the Mini Monsters at 3 1/4". The scallop for BOO was cut at 3 1/4" from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. The circle was cut at 2 3/4" from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge. The letters for the word BOO were cut at  2 3/4" from the Lyrical Letters Cartridge using the Jumbo creative feature. I then embossed them with some black embossing powder. The small bats are from the Wild Card cartridge and then glittered. I added some tulle behind the letters and used the Martha Stewart Spider Web border punch for the strip across the top of each pendant that was cut from Chipboard. The patterned paper is from the Recollections Paper pad that I bought last year. The trims along the top of the pendants are also from Michaels Recollections trim collection.

Weekend Project

Didn't want anyone to think I was just sitting around doing nothing this weekend. I have a project I just completed but guess what? The battery in my camera died. As soon as it charges and I get a chance to get a picture of it I will get it posted. I will leave  you guessing what it is.

Quick Simple Birthday Card

Here is a quick simple birthday card I made for my FIL's birthday next weekend. I wanted to keep it simple. The card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I started with some Kraft card stock and added a subtle rust colored patterned paper mat cut at 4 1/4" X 5 1/4". I embossed this Kraft card stock with the herringbone cuttlebug embossing folder and then lightly inked it with some brown ink. I then cut another piece of the patterned paper 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" and finally cut one last piece of Kraft card stock 3 1/4" X 3 1/4" and stamped my sentiment. For the finishing touch, I added some rust colored nail heads to the card, my only embellishment. Thanks for visiting.

Halloween Card

Here is a card I made for several challenges. I used the October 31 cartridge for the window. I used my Gyspy to create this card. I started with the window image on my gypsy mat, and copied and pasted it. I then used the hide contour feature to hide all the cuts but the outside cuts to create a shadow of the window, then copied and pasted that and flipped it. I used a very small rectangle and stretched it and resized it to fit the window which I skewed. I welded both sides of the shadow I create to the rectangle. I then created a blackout image of the window with my Gyspy again using the hide contour feature and cut that from acetate. I cut the original image from black card stock and the welded card base from orange card stock. I also skewed the spider web from the October 31 cartridge and welded it to the window. This was difficult to cut with its fine thin lines. I added some black glitter to the web. I cut the spider from black card stock at  1 3/4" from the Lyrical Letters cartridge and again used some black glitter glue on it. The ghost was cut from cream colored card stock at 3" from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I cut the pumpkin at 1 3/4" from orange card stock also from the October 31 cartridge. I used some green ink to ink the stem portion of the cut and added some yellow card stock pieces behind the pumpkin for its eyes, nose and mouth and then used some yellow stickles on it to give is some sparkle. I attached the black window with foam tape and also the pumpkin. The spider web was glittered with some black glitter glue. I attached some clear acetate to the back of the black window and then attached the spider. The ghost was attached to the orange card base. I also stamped the card base in the upper right window with the word Boo using Staz On Ink and a Hero Arts stamp. This was a fun and challenging card to make. Thanks for visiting.

Gone Fishing!

Here is the birthday card I made my for my son who turns 20 tomorrow. ( My time flies when raising kids!) we bought him a guided salmon, steelhead, sturgeon fishing trip on the Columbia River for two for his birthday. I know he will love it. Needless today I wanted to do a fishing themed card. I got this idea from the Cardmaking with the Cricut. the card is from the Wild Card cartridge and was cut at 5 1/2". The  fish are also from the Wild Card cartridge. I believe the fishing pole was from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. I had to make this card in stages when my son wasn't around which for some reason wasn't very often.  I finally got it done this weekend which is good thing. The patterned paper is from from DCWV. I ran the fish through my Cuttlebug and embossed them using the tiny bubbles embossing folder. I used my white gel pen to highlight the gills and tail of the fish and added some small googly eyes. Thanks for visiting.

Brrr! Winter Frolic Card

I just received my Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge in the mail on Friday and of course wanted to play with it right away. I finally got the chance yesterday. If you haven't looked at this cartridge I would encourage you to. It has some great images as well as phrases on it. All the phrases have a shadow. There is also some great tags on the cartridge.  Anyway back to the card.  I asked my son to pick out an image he wanted me to cut and make a quick card out of. He chose this cute little penguin on page 57 of the handbook.  My card base is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" and cut from some white card stock. The light blue snowflake paper is a scrap from my stash and was cut at 4" X 5 1/4". I cut the penguin and all his layers at 3 1/2". The sentiment is from page 33 of the hand book. I cut the sentiment it's layer and shadow all at 1 1/4". Again, I just used some scraps from my stash. I added some stardust Stickles to the white lettering on the sentiment as well as the trim on the hat and the lollipop. Once the stickles dried on the lollipop I added some Glossy Accents to give it a little more dimension and to help it look more like candy. I then added a button with some cord tied in a knot. I am pleased how the card turned out. Thanks for visiting!
