There is a new Cricut Cardz Challenge . The challenge is to make a graduation card using any colors and cartridge you want. I chose to use 3 Birds on Parade. I ran the white mat through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with the Congratulations embossing folder. I then spritzed the mat with some sea glass glimmer mist. The image was cut at 4". I added an olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and a patterned paper mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5. The music notes are from the Winter Frolic cartridge and cut at 1 1/4". Birthday Card

One of my co-workers has a birthday next week and this is the card I made for her. I think this little turtle is so cute. He was cut from the Create-A-Critter cartridge at 2 1/2". I cut the base layer, layer 2 and layer 3. I didn't want the face layer because I wanted to add his face with a peachy keen stamp.

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a lime green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I added some faux stitching around the green mat and some doodle dots to the turtle with my white gel pen. I also colored in his eyes and gave him some pink cheeks and freckles. I attached the turtle to my card with an action wobble.

I think she is going to love him! Thanks for visiting.

Cricut Cardz May Day Challenge

Welcome to the Cricut Cardz Challenge #108 at Cardz TV. This challenge is a May Day challenge, to make a card for any occasion using flowers from any cartridge(s) and using any colors you'd like. This is what I came up with.

My card base is a 5" x 7" white card stock. I used my corner rounder to round all the corners. I used the Lacey Labels cartridge to cut the navy mat and the white mat at 6 1/2". I ran the white mat through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with a floral embossing folder from Sizzix. My vase of flowers was cut at 6" from the Kate's ABC's. I used my Imagine and the All Wrapped Up cartridge for my colors. To finish the card I added some stickles to some of the flowers, stamped Hello in the lower right hand corner and added 3 pearls to the lower left hand corner. For the pearls, I took some white pearls and colored them with a Copic marker to get some blue ones to go with my card. I hope you will play along with us and look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Celebrate Sunshine

YEAH! We are finally getting some spring and summer weather. 85 today and 88 tomorrow.

The challenge going on at Simply Crafts is to make a card using the Sun from the Create-a-Critter cartridge. This is what I came up with.

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. My yellow mat is the same paper as my sun's face and is from Core'denations and is cut at 4" X 5 1/4". My patterned paper is from the new Echo Park Hello Summer paper pack. The paper is two sided and I used both sides on my card. I cut the cloud paper at 2" X  5" and the striped paper at 2 1/8" X 5".

My sun was cut at 3". I cut the base layer out of orange card stock and the face layer out of yellow. On the face layer I used the hide contour feature on my Gypsy to hide the face so I could stamp it with my Peachy Keen stamps. I used my white gel pen to add some faux stitching around the sun and colored in his eyes. I also used some pink chalk to give  him some rosy cheeks and some freckles with my white gel pen. My little sun is attached to the card with an action wobble.  I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The stamp set also has this cute little bee that I added to the upper corner of the clouds and I colored him in with a copic marker. To finish the card I added 3 small buttons threaded with some twine.

Happy Mother's Day Card

I recently received my new Tim Holtz Spring Distress Inks. Wow, are they beautiful. I love them. I decided to make my own background paper using some Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers. I started with a piece of white card stock cut to 3 3/4" X 5". I used a flourished background stamp from Hero Arts (yes, Kim can get this for you, just let her know) and inked it generously with the Snow Cap acrylic paint. Once the paint dried I used my sponge applicator to apply the ink to my paper. I love how it turned out. For my card, I started with a piece of white card stock cut and folded to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a gold patterned paper mat from My Minds Eye. Then I added the background paper I made. To finish the card, I added one of the Kaisercraft Dress Forms. I painted my dress form with Eggplant Paint Dabber. I then spritzed it with some Dragonfly Glimmer Mist. Once that dried I spritzed it lightly with some Pearl Glimmer Mist. I cut a mat for my sentiment from the Elegant Edges cartridge at 1 1/4". I used the same ink colors to ink up my shadow mat and then inked the edges with the Lilac color and stamped my sentiment with the lilac color. I added some pearls to finish my card. Here is a short video showing you how I did the background paper.

Tag It Challenge

The challenge this month at Scrappy Frogs is to make a project and use a tag on it. Here is what I came up with.

I started with Kraft card stock that I cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a dark olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I cut my tag at 3" from the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge. I stamped a flourish pattern on the tag with some VersaMark ink. Then using my distress inks and foam applicator I started layering on colors. I used Wild Honey, Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, and Dusty Concord.  To finish my card, I added a narrow purple ribbon to the tag. The butterflies were cut from the Indie Cartridge at 1 1/4", 1" and 3/4". I spritzed them lightly with some Pearl Glimmer Mist. I also cut a couple of flourished from the Home Decor cartridge. I believe I cut those a 1 1/2" (sorry I can't remember the exact size). I added the flourish to the card and topped them with my butterflies. Finally I added some roses that are from Recollections. I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The sentiment says Friends fill your  life with joy, Your soul with sunshine, and your heart with love. I really liked that sentiment. I hope you will play along with us for this challenge. See you there.

Happy BIRD-Day Card

20120504_5So I found this super cute paper at my LSS by Jillibean Soup. This is called Spotted Owl Soup. I made this card for my husband’s birthday later this month.

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to 4 1/4” X 5 1/2”. I added a bright blue mat cut at 4” X 5 1/4” and then my patterned paper cut at 3 3/4” X 5”. I used some Doodlebug twine and wrapped it around my card.

My little owl is from the Hoot and Holler Cricut Lite cartridge and was cut at 3”. I used my Imagine and colors from the Blast Off cartridge to color the layers of my owl. I also cut the hat from the cartridge at 1 3/4” and used patterns and colors from the Blast Off cartridge to color it as well. I adhered my hat to my owl and then put my little owl on an action wobble. He is just too cute.

I stamped my sentiment is some dark blue ink on white card stock and then cut it down and notched the end and added it to my card. I think he is going to like this one.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #107

I am excited to announce that Mary at Cardz TV has invited me to join the Cricut Cardz Challenge Design Team. WhooHoo!!  Every other Wednesday a new challenge is posted. Today's challenge is to make a Mother's Day card using any cartridges and colors you like. Here is what I came up with.

For my card base I used some dark teal Core'denations card stock and the Birthday Bash cartridge. I cut my base at 5". The circle layer of the card was cut using some Basic Grey card stock. This paper is from an 6 X 6 paper pack that I have had for a couple of years I don't know they name of it, the cover is gone. For my flower I used the Sophie cartridge. I cut the flower at 3 3/4". I used some paper from my scrap bin so I apologize but again I don't know the name of the paper. I added some yellow stickles to the yellow layer of the flower to give it some sparkle and added the flower to my card with some foam tape. I stamps Happy Mother's Day with some VersaMagic Chalk Ink in Turquoise Gem. Thanks for visiting. I hope you will join us in this Mother's Day challenge over at CardzTV.
