Be My Valentine Challenge

The new Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a square or round Valentine's Day card using the card feature from any cartridge. This is what I came up with.

I used Just Because Cards to make a square 5" card that I cut out of white card stock. I rounded the outer edges with my corner chomper. I added a red mat cut at 4 3/4" and the patterned paper mat cut at 4 1/2" and rounded the corners. I then used the Love Struck cartridge to cut my heart at 4" out of red and white paper.  I stamped my sentiment to the center of the heard and added the heart with some foam tape to the front of my card. To finish my card I added a sheer white ribbon. I hope you will play along with us for the challenge.

Cardz tv Color Challenge

The Design Team at Cardz Tv is having a color challenge. The challenge is to make a  project using Red, Black, and White only. This is what I came up with to enter into the challenge.

I got the XO Tic Tac Toe image  from the Silhouette store and cut it with my Cameo. My card base is white card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. I added a red mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then added the black and white patterned paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5.

I cut the image at the size it opened up on the mat which was about 3 1/2". The image cuts an extra X and O besides the heart. I adhered these to the Tic-Tac-Toe game with some foam tape and then added stickles to them. I also added a small bordered bunched with a Martha Stewart scalloped heart punch and topped it with some red and white gingham ribbon. All my patterned paper is from an American Crafts 6" X 6" paper pad. Hope you like it.

Meet Smokey and a Thank You Card

Our new little 8 week old puppy joined our family today. We named him Smokey because of his gray eyebrows. We found through a friend at work. After met Smokey and fell in love she went out and bought us a Petsmart Gift Card so we could take him shopping. I made this card to thank her for her generosity and for helping us find Smokey.

My card is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. I used Kraft card stock for the base. I added a blue mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and a patterned paper mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5". My little dog is from Create A Critter and is the closest I could find that looked like Smokey. He is cut at 3 1/2". My sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I added some silver nail heads to each side of the sentiment.

Be Mine Card

I have another Valentine Day card for you today. I do think this card would work great for an Anniversary or even a Birthday too. Or just to say Hello to someone, and let them know you are thinking about them. So the last card I made used some Hero Art stamps. While I later found out that Hero Arts makes a die that fits those stamps. (Yes, Kim can order Hero Arts products. Just contact her through Customer Service at Cutters Creek.) Of course I had to get them. Then this idea popped into my head and this is what I came up with. My card is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock card base. I love using the Bazzill smooth white card stock for my card bases. It is a good sturdy paper and since it is smooth everything you layer on top lies nice and flat. I added a black mat cut to 4" X 5 1/4" and then the patterned paper mat cut to 3 3/4" X 5".  I added some Washi Tape from American Crafts at the bottom of my patterned paper for some color. For my heart balloons I cut both sizes of the small dies out of some patterned paper. For my sentiment I stamped that in some Memento Tuxedo Black ink on some red card stock. I used my eBosser to cut all the hearts out. Got to love the eBosser! I did use my magnetic shim which works great to help keep your dies in place. In case you are wondering, the machines shipping now come with the magnetic shim. For those of us that got in on the first shipment they did not but Cutters Creek sells them. I then attached some of the Doodlebug twine to each of my hearts and adhered them to my card with some foam tape. The red heart and pink heart are both on two thicknesses of foam tape and the rest is on one thickness. Finally, I doubled some of the pink and white striped twine and tied all the strings together in a bow. I added a couple of pink heart stick pens that are from My Minds Eye and some white stitching with my gel pen. I had a lot of fun making this one and with the eBosser doing all the work it went together really quick.

A Banner Year!

The new Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a project using a banner. This is what I came up with. My card base is white card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a black mat cut to 4" X 5 1/4" and then a pink mat cut to 3 3/4" X 5" and then a patterned paper mat cut at 3 1/2" X 4 3/4". I cut my mat using Elegant Edges and my Gypsy. I adjusted the size so it was approximate 2 1/2" X 3". The shadow was cut out of black and the top layer was cut out of red card stock and then I ran it through my eBosser and embossed it with the 3 dots Sizzix embossing folder. The mat was adhered to my card with some foam tape. My birds come from the Rock Princess cartridge and were cut at 3".

I hope you will join us for the challenge.

Love Banner

It feels like it has been forever since I worked on any projects. That nasty virus I got sure took it out of me but I am doing much better now, thankfully. I finally had some energy this weekend to work on a project.

The heart doily's are from the Silhouette store and cut with my Cameo. The word is cut from a font on my computer using the Cameo as well.  I sprayed the white hearts with some Pearl glimmer mist and the pink hearts with some Juneberry Wine glimmer mist. I created a black shadow for my letters using the offset feature in the Silhouette software. I attached the letters to the hearts with some foam tape.

Next I took some wide off-white satin ribbon and sprayed it with the Juneberry Wine glimmer mist. I used some Beacons 3-in-1 glue to attach the hearts to the ribbon. The next decision was how to hang it on the wall. I had a 6 X 6 paper pad that had a little plastic thing at the top so it could hang in the stored. So, I took that off the back of the paper pad since it didn't need to hang from anything here, cut it down a little bit to fit behind my ribbon and glued it to the ribbon with some Beacons 3-in-1 glue.

Thanks for visiting.

New Year, New Skill

The new challenge over at Scrappy Frogs is to try something new! So for Christmas my husband bought me a Silhouette Cameo and what better time to give the print and cut a try then for this challenge. I do have to say it went without a hitch for which I am grateful.

My card base is  4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock. I added a black mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper cut to 3 3/4" X 5". For my trees, I used the print and cut feature on my silhouette with these four season trees, I followed the directions to print the registration marks and sent it to my printer. Then I adhered the paper to my Silhouette mat and asked it to recognize the registration marks and cut. It did an awesome job. Finally I attached each of the trees to my card with some foam tape and stamped my Happy Birthday sentiment. I think this would be a good birthday card for either my male or female friends don't you agree?

I hope you will play along with us for this challenge and try something new.

Valentines Day Cards

It is hard to believe that 2012 is over with and we have entered 2013. If time moves as quickly has it has been Valentine's Day will be here before you know it. Here are a few easy cards to get you started on creating yours. All of my cards have a white card stock base and are 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". My mat layers are 4" X 5 1/4" and 3 3/4" X 5. All of my paper is from K & Company and are from older paper pads. All of my little critters are from Create A Critter 2. I cut the Teddy Bear and Koala bear at 3 1/2" and the Love Bug is cut at 3".
For my Teddy Bear I used some onyx pearls liquid pearls for his eyes and a white gel pen to add some faux stitching to my heart. I used white distress stain to stamp my little sentiment on my heart. He is attached to the card with an Action Wobble.
For my Koala I used my Imagine and the Baby Boutique color pallet for my grey colors. The black and red I cut with my Expression. Again I added some faux stitching to my heart and the ribbon. I embossed the sentiment with some Opaque White WOW! Embossing Powder.
For my Love Bug I added some Glam Pink stickles to the heart shaped antennas. My sentiment on this one is stamped in Memento Tuxedo black ink and is tamped on the larger heart that cut out from the bugs body.
This is the Hero Arts stamp set I used for all of my sentiments. I got it awhile back and have been anxious to use it.This item is not a standard stock item in the store but Kim at Cutter's Creek can order it for you so don't hesitate to ask her.
