Artesprix Guest Designer - 4th of July Magnets

 

Hello everyone, my name is Deanna Mulder and I am Guest Designing for Artesprix.  I’m excited to be playing with Artesprix Markers and Magnets today. There are so many possibilities with these Magnets and are a great beginner project. With the 4th of July holiday coming up I thought it would be fun to make some Magnets to display my grandkids artwork on the fridge door.

 

 What is Artesprix Iron-on Ink?

Artesprix has inks, paints, markers and blanks that are specially formulated to give anyone the opportunity to do sublimation projects without any special printers or equipment. With some regular copy paper and Artesprix products you can create your designs then apply it to your sublimation blank with heat, even a home iron.

 Supplies:

Magnets 4Ct

Sublimation Markers-Basic Chisel

Sublimation Markers-Pastel Chisel

Sublimation Markers-Bold Chisel

Protective Paper

Heat Tape

Copy Paper

Cricut Joy Xtra

 

 

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

 

Step 1: Trace the outline of the Magnets with a pencil.

 

 

Step 2: Draw, stamp and color your design inside your traced image. For my project I used Cricut Design Space to create my Images. I used a shape that matched the magnets and turned it into a guide. I duplicated it 4 times to help me size my images. I changed my images to draw. I then changed my guides back to a basic cut and made them white. I then attached my drawing images to the hexagon shape so my Cricut would draw and cut my images. 

 

 

Step 3: Load your paper onto the mat and load the mat into the machine.  Replace the cutting blade with the pen. The software will tell you when to change pen colors based on the colors of the pen you chose for each part of your drawing.

 

 

Pro Tip 1: When loading the pen push it in until you can just see the tip of the pen. If you go farther than that, the marker won’t lift off the page and will leave lines wherever it goes. I would suggest a test run before starting your project.

Pro Tip 2: Be sure to mirror your design. This is especially important if your image contains text.

 

 

Step 4: When the machine is finished drawing and cutting, unload your mat. Remove the images from your mat.

 

 

Step 5: Color your images if you choose to do so. I think I was a little heavy handed when coloring my images.

 

 

Step 6: Once your images are colored it’s time to tape the images to the Magnets. I used two pieces of Heat Tape for each Magnet. I taped my design to the white side of the Magnet.

 

 

Step 7: Now it’s time to build your Sublimation Sandwich. Place a layer of your protective paper under the design. I was pressing all four magnets at once, so I cut a piece of protective paper large enough to fit all four Magnets. I had the Magnets white side up then added another layer of protective paper.

 

 

Step 8: Now it's time to sublimate the Magnets. I used my heat press to do my Magnets. I pressed them at 400 for 75 seconds. When they are done remember they will be very hot. I used some heat protective gloves to take a peek.

 

 Step 9 When the Magnets are cool enough it’s time for the big reveal. I love how these 4th of July Magnets turned out.

 

 

Don’t these Magnets look great holding my grandkids artwork. I can think of so many ideas with these Magnets and the Markers. I had so much fun making them. This is a great beginner project. It would be fun to have your kids draw or color a small picture. Sublimate it and add it to a little gift bag of goodies for a teacher thank you gift.

Let's Craft and Create Challenge #203 A Penny for Your Thoughts

 2024 has arrived and so has a new challenge over at Let's Craft and Create. Challenge #203 starts today. The challenge is Anything Goes with the option A Penny for Your Thoughts, use a sentiment.

For my card, I started with some heavyweight white cardstock that I cut, scored and folded to make a standard A2 card base. My pattern paper is from a Pink and Main 6" X 6" paper pad. It's cut to 4" X 5 1/4".

My kids making snow angels is cut with my Cricut Joy Xtra. I cut the snow angel from white glitter cardstock. I used more of the pattern paper for the kid's jackets. I used a dark purple cardstock for the girl's pants, mittens, and shoes. I added white polka dots to her pants with a white gel pen. I used some cream cardstock for the boy's hat and pants. I used brown for his mittens and shoes.

My sentiment is a print and cut image from Cricut Design Space. The colors were perfect for my card.

Let's Craft and Create Challenge #202 AG with the Option of a Vintage Feel

 

It's time for a new challenge over at Let's Craft and Create, Challenge #202 Anything Goes with the Option Vintage Feel, starts today. This is my project.

I started with a heavyweight Kraft cardstock that was cut, scored, and folded to make a standard A2 card base. I used some rectangle dies to cut my pattern papers down and layered them on my card base.

My image is a Print and Cut image that I cut out with my Cricut Joy Xtra. To give the image a more vintage feel, I added some Vintage Photo around the white edges. I added some foam tape behind it to pop it up on my card. I then used my Nuvo Shimmer Pen to add shimmer to my tree and sentiment. I think my tree has a little too much shimmer. I was having trouble with my shimmer pen so gave it a squeeze and added a drop to my glass mat. I then dipped the brush into my little drop of shimmer and added it to my tree and sentiment. You can definitely see the shimmer on the tree.

The Creative Crafter Challenge #70 Anything Goes

 

It's time for a new challenge over at The Creative Crafters. Challenge #70 starts today. It's Anything Goes.

My card base is heavyweight white cardstock cut, scored and folded to make an A2 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. 

My pattern paper is from American Craft that I received in a Simon Says Stamp card kit. I was immediately drawn to this paper. I cut the pattern paper to 4" X 5 1/4". I matted it on some gray cardstock that I cut to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".

I used the burnt orange cardstock that came in the kit and an image from the Cricut Elegant Images image set to cut a label for my sentiment.

I did some ink blending with some Distress Oxide inks then cut my foliage with my Cricut Joy Xtra. My acorns are a print and cut image in Cricut Design Space.

I stamped my sentiment with some black ink then added my foliage and acorns to my sentiment. I then attached this to my card base.
