Another Etching

I did another Glass Etching today. I am really having fun learning this process. I used a clear glass votive candle holder that I picked up at the dollar store. I am using contact paper rather than vinyl for my stencil. I have big roll of contact paper that I really have no use for so using it for making stencils to etch glass seems like a way to put it to use. I found a snowflake font pattern I liked and cut it out with my Cricut Expression using Sure Cuts A Lot. I used a stipple brush that I bought at Joann Fabrics yesterday it was less than $4. I think it actually worked better getting the etching cream onto the pattern than the foam brush I used the last time. While the bottle directions say to leave the cream on for 10 minutes I left it on for 30 minutes then washed it off. I am pleased with the results. I have a dinner plate and a vase I still want to try just haven't figured out what to put on them. I will post pictures when I get them done.

Thank You Card

I had to make a thank you card for my in-laws. They have been spending time this summer going to garage sales which they love to do but while out shopping they have been looking for and buying me some rubber stamps. I just got a package in the mail from them this week with a bunch of stamps. There is a plastic bag with a bunch of small Christmas stamps and Stampin Up stamps. There is also some stamps that a teacher might use. Not sure exactly what I will do with those but will give it some thought. I used my Cricut Wild Card cartridge to make the card. This is the Doily card cut at 5". I also used the frame and phrase features on the cartridge for the black frame and the sentiment on the card. I made a matching envelope with the cartridge as well. Thanks for looking.

My First Glass Etching Project!

I have been itching to try my hand at glass etching and finally gave it a try today. I used a 50% off coupon at Michaels last night and bought a bottle of the Amour Glass Etching cream. I also bought a small glass votive candle holder for .99 cents to I would have something to try etching. I used regular contact paper that I had on hand and cut a striped candy cane using my Sure Cuts A Lot software. I cut the candy cane at 2 inches tall. I used blue painters tape to transfer the design to my votive candle holder. I used a foam brush to apply the etching cream and let it set for about 20 minutes, rinsed it well and removed the contact paper. While it isn't perfect, I didn't have my contact paper tall enough so I had an opps at the top of the candy cane as well as some of the edges aren't as clean and crisp as I would like but over all for a first try I am pleased how it turned out. Thanks for looking.

Card Contest

This is a card I made for a card contest on the Cricutlovers and cutterscreek yahoo groups I belong to. The theme of the contest was "A Season for all Greetings" and was to be a December holiday or winter theme. We also had to use something on the card that Cutters Creek sales. The paper I used I purchased at a garage sale last weekend for .10 cents a piece. The card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". The pattern paper was cut at 4" X 5 1/4".The marquee in the middle of the card was cut at 4 3/4" from the Storybook cricut cartridge using both the Accent Blackout and Accent Frame features. Season's Greetings was cut at 3" from the Wild Card Cartridge. Once I cut out the sentiment I embossed it using an embossing pad which I ran the wording across and sprinkled with a red and gold embossing powder and used my embossing heat gun. I love how it turned out. I am pleased how it turned out. Thanks for looking.

Provocraft Cartridge Give Away

Provocraft is celebrating their 100th Cricut Cartridge - Winter Wonderland with a give away.  Over the next 5 weeks they will be giving away 100 cartridges (20 per week).  Each week they will be posting a thread on the Cricut Message Board. Simply reply to the thread for a chance to win one of the cartridges given away that week.
I do not yet own this cartridge but I have seen some of the cuts and they look fantastic. I am anxious to get the cartridge. I would like to try out the 3-D houses on it. I read on one of the message boards that someone is going to make haunted houses out of them for Halloween decorations. What a great idea. Check out some of the images from the cartridge.
Here is a link to the product information on the Cricut website.

Get Well Card

My sister-in-law had surgery the other day and is still in the hospital. Here is the get well soon card I made her this afternoon. I heard about this Video on YouTube as well as information posted on an online Yahoo group I belong too. The video provides good instructions as well as the measurements. This is my interpretation of the card in the video. The card base is paper from DCWV. The print paper is from Stampin Up.  The print paper is cut at 2 1/2 X 1 7/8". The card base is 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4". The blue color block in the middle is 3 1/2" X 2 3/8" and the white is 3 1/4" X 2 1/8". I printed out the sentiment on the computer. Thanks for looking.

Best Wishes

I was asked to make a card for an AmeriCorp volunteer who has worked for us for the last two years. Her assignment is complete the end of this week. Here is what I came up with. The paper is from Stampin Up and the sentiment I cut with my Cricut using the Lyrical Letters cartridge. I cut it at 2 1/2" and then add some ribbon and some stickles for a little bling. Thanks for looking.
