St. Patrick’s Day Card by Deanna M

I have a fun little St. Paddy’s Day card for you today. My card base is  4 1/4” X 5 1/2” white card stock. I use the Bazzill Simply Smooth card stock for my card bases. I like it because it cuts well  and also works in my Imagine and Expression and because there is no texture, it embosses nicely and stamping on it is easy.
Anyway, back to my card. I know I didn’t use all traditional St. Patrick’s Day green for my card but I was wanting to challenge myself a bit so I added a blue mat cut to 4” X 5 1/4” from my scrap bin. Then I added the zigzag patterned paper from the new My Minds Eye On the Bright Side One 6” X 6” paper pad. The colors in it reminded me of a rainbow. I cut that at  3 3/4” X 5. I don’t know about you but I am loving the new My Minds Eye paper pads that Cutters Creek is carrying. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should.
I added a narrow strip of green cardstock also from my scrap bin. I cut this at 3 3/4” X 1  1/4”. I ran a piece of black and white gingham ribbon to cover the edge of the green paper. I stamped my sentiment and the shamrocks with Cottage Ivy Memento Ink. I cut my Pot of Gold from the Simply Charmed cartridge at 3”. I did not cut the last layer of the pot as I did not want the face.
I covered the black pot with some Oil Slick Glimmer Glaze. If you are not familiar with Glimmer Glaze it is a member of the Tattered Angels products and compliments your Glimmer Mist. Cutters Creek can special order the Glimmer Glaze for  you. It comes a in a large selection of colors and is really fun to use to dress up a project.
Sorry for the detour,  I added some gold stickles to the sparkle up gold in the pot. Finally I cut a shamrock from the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge at 1 1/4” and adhered to the front of the pot and outlined it with some Firefly Stickles. I adhered the pot to the card with some of the clear gel foam pads.

Cricut Cardz Challenge

Here is a card I made for the Cricut Cardz Challenge #44. The challenge was to make an S-Fold or Z-Fold Halloween card. My finish card size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". My patterned papers are from the Cloud 9 Seasonal Paper stack that I picked up from Joann's a few weeks ago.

The bats were cut at 2" using the real dial size button on my Gyspy from the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge. I used my Gypsy to hide the faces so they wouldn't cut. Once cut, I ran them through my Xyron sticker maker upside down and applied black Martha Stewart flocking to them. I then added some orange heat set rhinestones with my Bedazzler heat tool. While it doesn't show up real well in the picture in person the eyes of the bats look as if they are glowing.

The pumpkin is from the Pumpkin Carvings cricut seasonal mini cartridge. I added one of the faces to the pumpkin and hid the outside square on my Gypsy. I added some yellow glitter to the eyes and green glitter to the stem.

The frog is from the Mini-Monsters Cricut cartridge and he was cut at 1 1/2". I inked around his edges with some moss green ink. Again, I added some black rhinestones for his eyes. The tag was cut at 2" X 3" and I rounded the corners. I inked the edges of the tag with the same moss green ink. the sentiment was stamped with embossing ink and embossed with some amethyst colored embossing powder. The sentiment and little witch are both from a Hero Arts Clear Halloween stamp set. Thanks for visiting. 

Halloween Card

Here is a card I made for several challenges. I used the October 31 cartridge for the window. I used my Gyspy to create this card. I started with the window image on my gypsy mat, and copied and pasted it. I then used the hide contour feature to hide all the cuts but the outside cuts to create a shadow of the window, then copied and pasted that and flipped it. I used a very small rectangle and stretched it and resized it to fit the window which I skewed. I welded both sides of the shadow I create to the rectangle. I then created a blackout image of the window with my Gyspy again using the hide contour feature and cut that from acetate. I cut the original image from black card stock and the welded card base from orange card stock. I also skewed the spider web from the October 31 cartridge and welded it to the window. This was difficult to cut with its fine thin lines. I added some black glitter to the web. I cut the spider from black card stock at  1 3/4" from the Lyrical Letters cartridge and again used some black glitter glue on it. The ghost was cut from cream colored card stock at 3" from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I cut the pumpkin at 1 3/4" from orange card stock also from the October 31 cartridge. I used some green ink to ink the stem portion of the cut and added some yellow card stock pieces behind the pumpkin for its eyes, nose and mouth and then used some yellow stickles on it to give is some sparkle. I attached the black window with foam tape and also the pumpkin. The spider web was glittered with some black glitter glue. I attached some clear acetate to the back of the black window and then attached the spider. The ghost was attached to the orange card base. I also stamped the card base in the upper right window with the word Boo using Staz On Ink and a Hero Arts stamp. This was a fun and challenging card to make. Thanks for visiting.

Christmas In July Challenge #3

Here is a card I made for the Christmas in July Challenge at Cardztv. The challenge was to create a Christmas card and to use ribbon, buttons, or lace. I have been wanting to cut the little penguin from the Create-a-Critter cartridges and thought this would work great for this challenge. My card is 4 1/2" X 6" and is blue Bazzill card stock. I then added a white mat cut 1/4" smaller then the card base and a patterned paper mat again cute 1/4" smaller than the white mat. The patterned paper is from a DCWV Christmas stack I had on hand. I cut the penguin and his layers at 3 1/2". The hat is from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I used my gypsy to and the real dial size button to re size the hat to fit the penguin. I applied some liquid applique to the areas on the hat where the fur trim and the pompom are. I heated the liquid applique with my embossing gun to give it the puffy textured look. I added a little pink chalk to give the penguin some rosy cheeks. The stamp is a $1 Clear G Studio stamp I picked up from Michael's last holiday season. I added a sheer white ribbon to the side of the card. I had fun making this card. Thanks for looking.
