Aged to Perfection

With the coming of Spring (we all hope) comes for me a lot of birthdays. So, I decided I better get a jump start on some of the cards I am going to need. I recently heard of a sunburst or starburst card and of course I had to give it a try. I started with 4 different pieces of patterned paper cut 1 1/2" X 4". Take each strip and cut it diagonally corner to corner to form two triangles. Lay your triangles out point side down and decide on the pattern you want. Next, cut a piece of scrap card stock 2 3/4" X 5".  First thing to do is to find the center of the paper along the 5" side. I drew a line from top to bottom to mark my center. Next I covered the entire piece of card stock with some Glue n Seal. Starting from the center of your card stock you start applying your triangle pieces being sure to let the hang off of each end of the paper a bit and be sure you are covering the entire piece of card stock. You may have to adjust your placement to be sure the corners are covered. One done allow it to dry and the cut all the overhanging excess paper off. Next I adhered the entire panel to another piece of white card stock cut at 3 3/4" 5". And, Joy of Joy's I got to try out my new mini perfect layers when I cut my black mat. I used the 1/8" side and it was fast an easy to get a perfectly centered mat behind my image layer. I also added a 1/2" x 5" piece of black card stock to the front of my card. I then cut a butterfly out at 2 3/4" using my Cameo and some green and black card stock. Before adhering the layers together I decided I wanted to glitter my butterfly. I pressed the black layer of the butterfly into my Versamark embossing pad and sprinkled it with some Ranger Sticky Embossing powder. I think everyone should have some of this embossing powder it is awesome, because, when you heat it up it goes from the white powder to shiny and becomes sticky. I then sprinkled the layer with some of the Black Soot Distress Glitter and then briefly heated the whole thing again to make sure the glitter was permanently adhered. It was quick and easy with the Sticky Embossing powder and I don't have glitter falling off my project. The Distress Glitters are also a special order item and they are all gorgeous. Some of the prettiest glitter I've seen. Once I had the butterfly done, I adhere the two layers together with some Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. I adhered the butterfly to my card front with some of the Clear 3D foam pads.  I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and added some bling to finish it off. Thanks for visiting. Rosette Thanksgiving Wreath

I wanted to make a Thanksgiving Wreath for my house but wanted something a little different.  So, I decided to make a Rosette Wreath!  I love how it turned out. For my wreath, I started with six sheets of 8 1/2" X 11" card stock. I chose to use two different colors for my rosette wreath. Using my Scoreboard I scored on the paper every 3/4" of an inch on the 11" inch side. Once I had all my paper scored, I folded it accordion style. To adhere my rosette together I used some 1/2" Kool-Tak. It is very similar to scor-tape. I then cut two 6" circles and hot glued them to the front and back of the rosette to hold it in place. My turkey is from the Silhouette Store and was cut using my Cameo and some brown card stock. I used the offset feature in the Design software to create a shadow for my turkey and cut that out of some light rusty orange paper. I sprayed the brown layer of my turkey with some Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. My letters were cut from the A Child's Year Cricut Cartridge at 4". I cut these out of the same card stock as the turkey's shadow. I applied some Glossy Glue and Seal to each letter and sprinkled them with some of the Rusty Hinge Distress Glitter. The distress glitter is a special order item, so just ask if you want some. I finished the wreath with a bow at the bottom. I made a loop out of the ribbon and hot glued it to the top of the wreath so I could hang it. The wreath actually went together really quickly so this is something you could put together for just about any occasion. You could also use patterned paper for an entirely different look. I thought these colors just gave the appearance of the turkey's tail all fanned out. Let me know what you think, I would love it if you left me a comment.

Christmas in July Blog Hop!

I have a fun Advent Calendar for you today.

I started with a wooden 12 X 12 frame I found on clearance and spray painted it red. I then sprayed it with some Gold Glitter Dust spray.

Next I took a 12 X 12 square piece of metal that I found in my local craft store and covered it with some paper. I happened to have a piece of scrapbook paper that was actually made to make an advent calendar with so I used that, but you could use just about any patterned paper you wanted. I used Glue N Seal to adhere the paper to the metal piece, I then added a coat of Glue N Seal to the top of the paper to seal it.

Next I used my Silhouette and the print and cut feature to print out 25 different round Christmas themed tags at approximately 3/4".

I used some Glossy Accents to adhere small magnets to the backs of each of my little tins. I also used Glossy Accents to adhere the small tags to the insides of my tins. To decorate the frame I cut some small square images out of an older Graphic 45 8 X 8 paper pad, Christmas Emporium and using my trusty Glue N Seal adhere them to the frame, and again I added a top layer of Glue n Seal to seal the paper. (If you would like this paper pad, check with Kim to see if she can still order it).

I cut some numbers at 1/2" out of some black vinyl and adhered them to each of the lids to the tins. They are a little hard to see in the photo but I wanted the tag inside to show through. My plan is to fill each tin with a little piece of candy. I want the tag to be a surprise after they open it up and take out the candy each day.

Finally I cut the banner for the top at approximately 10" wide, again using my Silhouette and an image from the Silhouette store. I used my Scotch Quick Dry adhesive to adhere the banner together and used Glossy Accents to adhere it to the front of my Frame.

To hang my calendar I have some of the Tim Holtz Seasonal Ribbon attached to the back. I lightly tacked it with more Glossy Accents, but I want to use the staple gun to staple it to the frame. Unfortunately I can't get to the staple gun to do that so I didn't want to hang it. (Again, this item is not in stock in the store but check with Kim to see if she can order it).

Washi Tape Technique and Card

I wanted to share the technique I used to make the flower on this birthday card. For all of you in the Cutters Creek Washi Tape club or Adhesive Club (even better, both!) should like this one as it uses Washi Tape and Inkssentials Glue n Seal. I love this adhesive. A co-worker is redoing her bathroom in black and white tile and her favorite color is red so I decided to incorporate all 3 colors into a birthday card for her. My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/2" X 6" card base. I added a black mat cut at 4 1/4" X 5 3/4" and then another white mat cut at 4" x 5 1/2" and finally a black patterned paper mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5. My flower is die cut using a sizzix die and I embossed the sentiment with some WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder. (it is currently sold out but I am sure Kim will be adding more to the store soon). I added a black stitched white ribbon and tied a knot bow on it.

For the flower I cut a piece of white card stock big enough to fit my die and lightly coated it with some Inkssentials Glue n Seal. I then added rows of Washi Tape to my card stock in a diagonal pattern (just because I wanted to).

On my original sample I cut the excess Washi Tape off, in the Video I did not. However I think it is better to cut the excess of. To finish my flower I added some Kool Tak clear adhesive foam squares between my layers of my flower as well as to adhere the flower to the card. For the center of my flower I first added a 3d Glue Dot to the center. Then I took another 3d Glue Dot and dipped into some Strawberry Ultra Fine Flower Soft and attached it to the glue dot already in the center of the flower. To finish the card I also added some white faux stitching with my white gel pen. As I said in the video, I think this would be a great technique for a background mat on a card as well. I sure hope you will give this technique a try.

Altered Halloween Treat Box

Today I have for you a fun Halloween Treat Box. I picked up this wooden coffin at my local box store and spray painted the whole thing black. I cut some paper to fit the inside of the lid and bottom of the box and used some Glue and Seal to attach and seal the paper on the inside of the coffin . I cut the word Beware from the Happy Haunting cartridge at 1 1/2" and attached it to the inside lid. I  then painted it with some Rock Candy Crackle Paint which gave it an aged look inside.

On the outside I cut some images from the Happy Haunting Cricut Cartridge and glued them to the outside of my box. I then sprayed the entire outside of the box with the Iridescent Glitter Dust. I think  you can see the sparkle in the photo.
