Christmas Wishes

The new Cricut Cardz Challenge over at CardzTV is to make a card using a Christmas word or phrase and any colors you like. This is what I came up with.

For this challenge I made a Tall Card. My card base is Kraft card stock cut and scored to make a 4" X 9" card base. This card will fit in a regular #10 envelope. I then added a piece of patterned paper from an older My Minds Eye Christmas paper pad. (Sorry the cover is gone so I don't know the name of the paper pad). I used the Winter Frolic cartridge and cut my partridges in a tree out at 3". I cut them twice once using the flip feature. I added some Glossy Accents to the ornaments. My sentiment is cut out at 2" and adhered to my card front with some foam tape. I also used some foam tape to adhere my partridges to my card front.

Snow Angel Card

It has been hot here for the last week so I decided it was time to make a cool weather card. I started with a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card base. I added a mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then snowflake paper cut at 3 3/4" X 2 1/2". I then used the D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss a piece of the Core'denations Whitewashed paper and sanded it. I then inked the raised swirls with my Versamark pad and sprinkled it with the Neutral Ultra Shimmer WOW! Embossing powder. Finally I added the strip with the little houses on it which is the back side of the first mat. My patterned paper is from My Minds Eye Winter Wonderland paper pack. I sprayed the snowflake paper with some iridescent Glitter Dust.

Not sure you can really see the sparkle and shine from the glitter spray in the photo. I cut my Snow Angel from the Winter Frolic cartridge at 3". I adhered her to the card front with an Action Wobble and stamped my sentiment.

I'll Be Home for Christmas

To help with your planning there are just 165 days left until Christmas. I can't believe we are almost halfway through July and it just is never to early to start working on your Holiday Cards, and Craft sale items. To help get you in the mood, I have for you this fun Christmas card. I used the Handyman Cricut Lite cartridge and welded two shadows of this house together and cut it from white card stock. I cut one additional shadow layer from white and adhered it to the front of the card. I cut the card base and all the layers at 5". I cut the layers for the house out of patterned paper from My Minds Eye. While there isn't any of this paper left, check out what is in the store from Echo Park, it would work perfect. I used some Polar White Flower Soft on the roof edge. I then cut a snowman at 2 1/4" from the Winter Frolic cartridge (need this cartridge? Kim can special order it for you, just ask) and stamp his face with  the Snow Cuties Peachy Keen Stamp Face. I also cut a tree topiary from the Joys of the Season cartridge also at 2 1/4". I used some Sugar Can Glimmer Glaze (Yes, Kim can special order this for you) to glaze my pot on the tree to give it a brassy look. Finally I used some Rouge Liquid Pearls to added some decorations to the tree and the buttons on the Snowman. Finally I added a black nail head for the doorknob. I hope I have inspired you to get out those papers and get a jump start on  your holiday crafting!!

Not a Creature Was Stirring

When I got the Cardz TV stamp Home for the Christmas stamp set I knew how I wanted to use the Not a Creature was Stirring stamp.

I started with a 5" X 7" white card stock base. I added a dark blue patterned paper mat and a light blue snowflake patterned paper mat. The patterned paper is from a DCWV paper stack from last Christmas. I cut the mouse image from the Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge at 3 1/2". The little mouse was attached to my card with some foam tape.

Co-Worker Gifts

Here are some little gifts I made to take to work and give the people I work with. I cut the Popcorn box from TBBM at 5". I laid the box out on my gypsy and was able to get two boxes per 12" X 12" sheet of card stock. The patterned paper are from two different My Minds Eye Christmas Paper packs. The tan boxes with Twas The Night Before Christmas on them are from a pack I bought last year, the other papers are from one I got at Michaels this year. I used Scor-tape to adhere the boxes together. I bought a variety of snack mixes from the bulk food section of a local grocer and filled some clear treat bags that I bought at Michaels. A trick I learned to make filling the bags easiest is to place them empty inside the popcorn boxes and then I used a scoop to fill the clear bags. Since the popcorn boxes are narrower at the bottom then the top this made it easier to get the bags into the boxes and still get them fairly full. I used the twist ties that came with the bags to close them and then tied some ribbon around them. The ribbon is some I got from Michaels and it says Naughty but Nice on it in red and green text. I then used the Winter Frolic cartridge to cut a 2 1/4" tag and stamped it with a little stamp I had that says Hope Your Holidays are a Treat. I inked the ends of the tag with Memento Lady Bug ink and used the same ink to stamp the sentiment on my tags. Since I was having some trouble with my hands cramping I opted to not tie the tags to the ribbon like I had planned. Instead, I added a gold mini brad and attached the tag to the front of the box with some foam tape. Thanks for visiting.

Gift Tags

Here are some gift tags I made this afternoon. I used a tag from the Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge. The base layer of the tag was cut at 3" from Recollections Kraft card stock. I also cut the shift tag from the same page (sorry it was one of the snowman but can't remember the page number). I used my Gypsy to hide the Snowman cut at the end of the tag. Paper is from a Cloud 9 paper pack seasonal paper pack.

To decorate my tags I used two snowflakes from the Winter Lace Seasonal Mini Cartridge cut at 2". I cut the base in a light green and the top layer in cream and glittered them with Sugar Cube Martha Stewart glitter. The tree was cut at 3" from the Winter Frolic cartridge. You can't see it in the picture but I added yellow stickles to the star and garland and Pink and Waterfall stickles to the ornaments on the tree. The mittens were cut from the Jolly Holidays Lite cartridge. I added some gold ribbon to each of the tags. Thanks for visiting.

Advent Calendar

Here is my project I have been working on for the last two days. Last Christmas I made my mom an Advent Calendar so this year she asked if I was making one for her this year. So, I thought why not. So off to Google I went and did a search for Cricut Advent Calendars. Here is the site I found for inspiration.http://www.bubblyfunk.co.uk/tracie-hudson-christmas-advent-a-39.html.

This calendar was made using small matchboxes. Of course I thought I can make those. I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More, Cricut Cartridge and cut 24 matchboxes. I cut the drawer part at 3" but had to enlarge the box part so the drawers went in easier. I resized the box part of the cut on my Gypsy and cut them at 3.08". The boxes were scored and assembled using Score-Tape. I added green and red brads from American Crafts. Directions on how to create this project can be found on the link above. I used two 6" X 6" pieces of chipboard for the top and bottom portions of the "cabinet". For the top I cut Christmas Wishes from the Winter Frolic Cartridge at 2 1/2". Cuts for the sides were cut at 1 1/2". I cut the numbers for the drawers at .45" using the Roly Poly font from the Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge.

The mittens were so small when I cut them I couldn't use the snowflakes that were cut to go on top of them. Instead, I used my white gel pen to draw in the snowflakes and then used my Quickie Glue Pen to apply glue and Martha Stewart Sugar Cube glitter. I also used the same glue and glitter for the white cuff's of the mittens.

Christmas Tree Card

My card is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card made from white card stock. I added a dark olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then a second white mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5". This white mat I run through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder. For added sparkle and shine I also sprayed the white mat with Pearl Glimmer Mist (available at Cutters Creek). Love the sparkle it added. I adhered the mat layers together with my ATG gun. I added a shimmery sheer olive green ribbon.

 

The trees are cut from the Winter Frolic cartridge at 3 1/4". I cut the base layer in brown and the shift layer in olive green cardstock and layered them. Using the Flower Soft glue I bought from Cutters Creek I drew some zigzag lines across the front of the trees and sprinkled them with the Gold Diamond Range Flower soft. Looks just like gold garland don't you think?  One thing you will notice when you get your Flower Soft is that it is very firmly packed into the container it comes in. To lighten it up and help avoid getting large clumps on your project, you should dump out the flower soft that you will be using into a separate bowl and lightly run your fingers through it and aerate it. This helps separate the pieces of Flower Soft.

 

I attached the trees to my card front with some foam tape. The sentiment was printed out on the computer. I used the Center point feature on my Expression the the Lacy Labels Cricut Lite cartridge to cut out the sentiment. I used the oval scallop from the Thank You label on this cartridge and cut it at 1". I then used my Gypsy to cut the shift of the label to create a shadow and cut it at 1.15" out of the olive green. I inked the edges of the sentiment and shadow. Again for sparkle and shine I lightly misted it with the Pearl Glimmer Mist. You do have to be careful it doesn't smear your ink if you printed your sentiment out on the computer.  I added the sentiment to the card front with foam tape as well.

 

I just love how this turned out. The photo does not do the Gold Flower Soft justice. It is very sparkly. The silver is just as pretty as the gold. Check it out.

Snowman Winter Wonderland Card

This card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock base. I added a dark blue layer cut at 4" X 5 1/4". The patterned paper is from DCWV's new seasonal winter paper stack and is cut at 3 3/4" X 3".   I then cut a white piece of card stock to look like a snow drift it is approximately 3 3/4" X 2".  After I attached the mats to the card I used my Polar Fleece White Flower Soft and my Flower Soft glue to add some "snow" to the top of my snow drifts.The snowman is from the Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge. I ct the snowman and his layers at 3 1/2". I added some cotton candy stickles to his pink cheeks and some Christmas red stickles to his ear muffs and gloves to help them stand out and to add some bling to the card. The ribbon is some I picked up at Michaels this past weekend. For the sentiment, I used a Studio G $1 stamp and stamped it with some Versamark ink. I added some Winter Wonderland Embossing Powder and used my heat gun to emboss it. I love how it stands out on the card. I am really happy how this card turned out. Thanks for visiting.

Christmas Ornament Card

As promised here is the card I made yesterday. The card base is 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" made from white card stock. I have a pink mat cut at 5 1/4" X 5 1/4". The glittery patterned paper is cut at 5" X 5" and is from a paper stack I bought last Christmas, I think it was called Peppermint Forest.

The ornament was cut at 3 1/2" from the Winter Frolic cricut cartridge. I cat all the layers. I cut the little hook at the top of the ornament from white card stock. I used a clear embossing pad to get the paper wet and then added some silver metallic embossing powder by Zing. I heated the embossing powder to the the silvery metallic look. I then glued it to the top of the ornament. The pink striped trim I ran through my Xyron sticker maker and added some Sugar Cube glitter by Martha Stewart. I did the same thing to the little white star in the middle of the ornament.  I mounted the ornament to the card front using some foam tape. I added a ribbon again something leftover from last Christmas.

I didn't have a stamp for the sentiment that would fit the space I had so I printed my own on my computer. I believe this was printed at 22 pts. I apologize, I don't remember the name of the font. I think it was Brush Script.  I used Lacy Labels to cut the scalloped oval. I used the Center Point feature on my expression to cut the sentiment out at 1". I then cut the scallop again at 1.15" using my Gypsy to get the shadow. I also adhered this with foam tape.

Brrr! Winter Frolic Card

I just received my Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge in the mail on Friday and of course wanted to play with it right away. I finally got the chance yesterday.If you haven't looked at this cartridge I would encourage you to. It has some great images as well as phrases on it. All the phrases have a shadow. There is also some great tags on the cartridge.  Anyway back to the card.  I asked my son to pick out an image he wanted me to cut and make a quick card out of. He chose this cute little penguin on page 57 of the handbook.  My card base is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" and cut from some white card stock. The light blue snowflake paper is a scrap from my stash and was cut at 4" X 5 1/4". I cut the penguin and all his layers at 3 1/2". The sentiment is from page 33 of the hand book. I cut the sentiment it's layer and shadow all at 1 1/4". Again, I just used some scraps from my stash. I added some stardust Stickles to the white lettering on the sentiment as well as the trim on the hat and the lollipop. Once the stickles dried on the lollipop I added some Glossy Accents to give it a little more dimension and to help it look more like candy. I then added a button with some cord tied in a knot. I am pleased how the card turned out. Thanks for visiting!
