Video Tutorial - Working with Patterns in Cricut Design Space

So today I have for you a video tutorial exploring the Patterns feature in Cricut Design Space. How to upload  your own patterns, how to edit your patterns and how to restore the image to it's original colors.  I hope you find this tutorial helpful.  I do not have a project for you today.

Beware

I found this image in the Autumn Celebrations cartridge.  The image was not a card but I decided to make it into a card.   I opened the image in Cricut Design Space and first set the width to 4.23 inches and let the height set itself.  I then ungrouped all the layers and duplicated the shadow layer twice.  I mirrored these two layers vertically and lined up the tops overlapping them slightly and welded them.  I also added a score line in the middle of the card.  This created my card base. I am including a short video tutorial on how I made the card.

Next I took the main image and made it a print and cut image. I printed this and then cut it, then cut the card base.  I adhered the Beware image to my card base with some foam dots to add some dimension to the card.  To finish the card I added a small spider lapel pin to Mr Frankenstein and then traced over it with my Black Spica Atyou pen.  I also stamped some small spider webs in each corner and traced over some of the lines again with my Black Spica Atyou pen.

Mikala Ann the Good Witch

Hi everyone. It is time for another project for The Cutting Cafe.  This time we were using the Elisah Jean and friends files. I chose to use the Good Witches files.  Here is my project.

  And as usual I have a quick video that shows you the steps I went through to put this card together.  I apologize for the roaring noise, that was the air conditioner running.  I didn't realize it could be so loud.

Just Bee-Cause You're Nice

Hi everyone, it is time for a new challenge over at the Cutting Cafe.  This week was Anything Goes, so we got to choose what files we wanted to work with.  I chose Cute Critters.

I used my Prima Watercolor pencils and my Dove Blender Pen to blend the coloring on my Beehive and Bees.

My card is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card and the paper is from my stash.  I loved working with this set of "Critters" and will be using some of the other critters in future projects.  Please be sure to stop over at the Cutting Cafe to see what the other designers have done but also to shop for your files for your projects.

The Cutting Cafe - Design Team Planner Project.

First, I just have to say how excited I am to be working with Regina and the other Design Team members over at The Cutting Cafe.  If you've never visited before, you should make a shopping trip over there a priority. There are so super cute files over there for you to enjoy in your crafting.

So for my first project was to utilize the files for The Design Team Planner or the Craft Supply Planner.  I chose to use items from both planners.

For the cover I added lots of stickles to the butterflies.  I resized my planner to be 5 X 7 so it would fit in my purse so I could take it shopping.  For more details check out the video below.

Snowman Treat Holder

I have a cute treat holder for you today.  Because I wanted to make about 20 of these to take to work on Monday I changed mine up a bit.  Here is a photo of the one I ended up making to take to work.

I opted to use a Peachy Keen Snow Cuties stamp instead of cutting the eyes, nose, and mouth. These are actually quick and easy to make. To make these you start with your We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch.  

You start with a piece of white card stock cut at 2 1/8" X 11.  Score the card stock at 5 1/8" and at 5 7/8".  Then you punch the card stock at 2 1/8" on both sides and both ends.  I think this video tutorial will help explain it better.  I hope you like it,

Tag You're It! CardzTV Challenge

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone already!  So it is time to gear up for Christmas.  There is a new challenge at CardzTV today.  The challenge is to make 3 small gift tags. Here are the ones I made.

All of my tags are cut at 3" from the Joys of the Season Cricut Cartridge using my Cricut Explore.  Want to see how I created these? Check out my video below. I will show you how to use the Contour feature in Design Space, how to Weld and how to add a score line.  All of these tags are actually only one layer.

I hope you found the video helpful.  Once I had all my tags cut I adhered all the layers together and then decorated them. Some I stamped a sentiment on the front of the tag and some I didn't.  All of the tags have the To: and From: stamped on the back.  The one that I welded together, the To and From are actually on the inside of the card. I used the Very Merry, Christmas Joy, and Home for Christmas CardzTV stamp sets.

Now it is your turn. Take advantage of this challenge and get a jump start on your gift tags for all that Christmas wrapping in your future.  There are lots of Christmas tags on the holiday cartridges that you can embellish and make your own, or make one from scratch..  And don't forget that Mary will be giving away a set of CardzTV Stamps.

I have a fun card for you today. My card base is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" blue card stock. I added a bright yellow mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" I than used some of the white wash cut and emboss card stock and ran it through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder. I did not emboss the lower inch of the paper so I could stamp my sentiment. I then sanded the embossed paper so the blue color would show through then lightly spritzed it with some Sea Glass Glimmer Mist.  My dolphin is cut at 3 1/2" from the Pack Your Bags Cricut Cartridge. I attached him to the card with an action wobble. I added some blue striped bakers twine and a bright yellow button to finish off the card. I have a video below that explains how I made the card and so you can see him jumping out of the waves on his action wobble.

Center Step Card Tutorial

I have a fun new card for you today. At least new to me. It is called a Center Step Card or Front Panel Card.  The card will fit in an A2 size envelope and was a lot of fun to make. All of my papers are from Echo Park. I apologize for the dark picture a big gray cloud decided to cover up the sun just as I started taking pictures. I attached all of my paper down with my ATG Gun. My cupcake was cut from the Straight From the Nest cartridge (which Kim can order for you if you want it) at 2 3/4". Because the little holes for the sprinkles were so small I opted to add some liquid pearls in Hydrangea  and Key Lime to them instead. I attached my cupcake to my card with an action wobble. I did a short video for you to help explain how I made this card. I first saw this idea on SplitcoastStampers. I hope the video helps you understand how this card works.

Dance to Your Own Music

A friend is letting me borrow her Shall We Dance Cricut Cartridge and I decided to cut this little ballerina girl out. She is cut at 4". I used my Imagine and the Floral Emporium cartridge for to color my girl's tutu. Her skin and hair are RGB colors. My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added an olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and a patterned paper mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5. The music notes are from the Winter Frolic cartridge and cut at 1 1/4". My ballerina is attached to the card with an action wobble. I hope you all have a great holiday weekend. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Mother's Day Card

I recently received my new Tim Holtz Spring Distress Inks. Wow, are they beautiful. I love them. I decided to make my own background paper using some Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers. I started with a piece of white card stock cut to 3 3/4" X 5". I used a flourished background stamp from Hero Arts (yes, Kim can get this for you, just let her know) and inked it generously with the Snow Cap acrylic paint. Once the paint dried I used my sponge applicator to apply the ink to my paper. I love how it turned out. For my card, I started with a piece of white card stock cut and folded to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a gold patterned paper mat from My Minds Eye. Then I added the background paper I made. To finish the card, I added one of the Kaisercraft Dress Forms. I painted my dress form with Eggplant Paint Dabber. I then spritzed it with some Dragonfly Glimmer Mist. Once that dried I spritzed it lightly with some Pearl Glimmer Mist. I cut a mat for my sentiment from the Elegant Edges cartridge at 1 1/4". I used the same ink colors to ink up my shadow mat and then inked the edges with the Lilac color and stamped my sentiment with the lilac color. I added some pearls to finish my card.
