Farm Fresh-A Sunny Day Crafting Challenge

It's time for another challenge over at Sunny Day Crafting.  Here is what I came up with.

I came up with this card based on the inspirational photo for this challenge.

Now I am sure you are wondering how I came up with a pig and a chicken when the picture is of a barn.  That is the fun part of these challenges.  You can interpret the picture any way you want.  You might decide to use the colors from the picture, or the picture may represent something to you or you may choose to go with the theme of the picture.  That is what I chose to do.

When I looked at the photo it reminded me of my grandparents farm when I was younger. I loved going over there.  So I decided to recreate something that reminded me of my grandparents farm as this picture said, barn and farm to me.  Now on to the card details.

My card base is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card cut from Kraft card stock.  Next I added a black mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4".  My patterned paper is from my stash and was cut at 3 7/8" X 5 1/8".

The pig and chicken are from the Country Life cartridge and were cut at 3 3/4".  Once I cut all the layers I adhered them together and attached them to the front of the card with some foam tape.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I used a small tag punch to punch out the sentiment.  I then adhered it to my card front.

Teacher-Thanks so Much

It's time for another 3D Challenge over at CardzTV.  The new challenge is to make a treat bag or box for a teacher.  This is what I came up with.

I started with the Apple Box SVG file from My Scrap Chick and cut out and assembled the apple box. I cut the box using my Brother Scan and Cut. Next I added some flowers also an SVG file, this one from Digiplayground.  I used my Cricut Explore to cut the flowers.  The flowers were cut from white card stock and inked with some Spun Sugar Distress Ink. The flower centers were cut from light pink card stock.  I assembled the flowers and added them to my box. Finally I stamped my Ticket from the CardzTV Ticket Talk 2 stamp set.  I scanned the ticket with my Brother Scan and Cut and let the machine cut the ticket out for me. Love that feature.  Once the ticket was cut out, I stamped the sentiment and attached it to my box

Keep on Keeping on

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season, I know I did.  I have a friend going through a rough time so I decided to make her a card.  This is what I came up with.

I decided to use bright colors to help cheer her up.  My card base is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  I added an orange mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper mat cut at 3 7/8" X 5 1/8".

I found the image on the Cricut Essentials cartridge that I have access to through my Design Space subscription and my Cricut Explore.  I cut this flower out at 3 3/4".  I stamped the flower with the Lets Face It CardzTV stamp set.  I also added a border that was cut with a Martha Stewart border punch.  I used that border to stamp my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The sentiment is from the Mixed Messages  CardzTV stamp set.

The fun thing about this card is I attached to flower to the card with an action wobble so it moves.  I think it turned out super cute. What do you think?

I've Got my Eye's on You

It is time once again for a new 3D Challenge over at CardzTV.  The challenge this time is to make a candy bar wrapper or a treat holder for Halloween. This is what I came up with.

The file for the Milk Carton came from the Cutting Cafe.  I used some Doodlebug paper to cut my box.  The box was cut at 8.2" X 10.7 inches.  Box assembly is easy.  My suggestion is to put the piece of acetate over the spider cut out before assembling the box. Ask me how I know it is easier this way? Because I didn't do it that way.  I cut the little top piece at the default size it came into the program as and cut it down to fit.  You can't really tell but I did run it through my paper crimper to give it some ridges.  I attached it to the top of the carton with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher.  I then added a black and orange ribbon.  For my sentiment I stamped it with some Pumpkin Spice Versamark Chalk Ink.  I attached it to the top with some foam dots and finished it off with an orange enamel dot.  My sentiment is from the Frankly Frightful stamp set.

Well the 3d CardzTV Designers are back with our first challenge of the fall.  This weeks challenge is to make a 3D Fall Card.  This is what I came up with.

My card is a Double Dutch fold card.  You start with a piece of cards stock 4 3/16" X 9".  You score this piece of card stock at 5 1/2" that makes the top fold of the card.  You also need a piece of card stock 2" x 8 1/2".  This is scored at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8".  Attach the smaller piece of card stock to the back of the lower edge of the bigger piece.  The two flaps fold over to the front similar to a gate fold card.

My card base is made from Kraft card stock. To cover the larger flap up top you need a piece of card stock cut at 4" x 3 1/4".  I used a rusty orange piece of card stock from my stash.  I also cut little pieces to cover the flaps.  I cut mine at 1 7/8" X 1 7/8".  I embossed all to cover pieces with a Darice embossing folder called Autumn Leaves.  It is really a pretty embossing folder. Once I embossed the pieces I sprayed them lightly with some Tattered Angels Sugar Maple glimmer mist and let dry.

Next I cut my little scarecrow from the Simply Charms cartridge at 2 3/4".  I attached him with an action wobble so he can wave hello to everyone.  My sentiment is from the Thankful for You Cardztv Stamp set.  I cut the sentiment into 3 pieces so I could stamp it on Kraft cardstock to get the results I wanted.

Frankly Frightful

Where do you get your inspiration from? I find it all around me.Like this card.  I was just scrolling through some of the images in Cricut Design Space and came across this image.  It just said Easel Card to me so that is what I made.  When I find inspiration like this I can't wait to get started on my project.

For this Easel Card I started with two pieces of Kraft card stock. One piece I cut to 4 1/4" X 11.  I then scored this piece at 2 1/4" and 5 1/2".  I cut a second piece of card stock at 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  This piece became my card front.

Next I cut a black border at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8".  My pattern paper is from an Echo Park paper pad that I have had for a couple years.  I found this piece with the big moon and a black scary tree with ravens in it and bats flying.  I cut the paper at 4" X 5 1/4" and adhered it together.  Next I added some yellow card stock behind the windows so it looked like there was a light on in the house.  I then adhered the house to my card front and used some yellow stickles in the windows.  Once the stickles dried I used a dauber and some black soot distress ink to go over the yellow to dull it down a bit.  The pumpkins that I adhered to the porch of the house are from the Jolly Jack O Lantern Memory Box die.  I adhered the house to my card front using some foam tape.

I then added my little stop to the inside of the card.  It is stamped with Frankly Frightful from the Cardz TV stamp set with the same name.  I added the remaining two pumpkins to the left side of the easel stop and stamped my sentiment on the right hand side.

100% Country - CardzTV Anything Goes Blog Hop

Howdy everyone.  Hope you are enjoy the blog hop so far.  If you came from Tonya's blog then you are headed in the right direction, if you just wander here and would like to enjoy the entire blog hop along with all it's blog candy then please go to Mary's blog to start the hop.

I had so much fun designing my project and I sure hope you like it too.

I decided to make an easel card but instead of doing the typical portrait style card, I would make mine landscape. 

Here is a quick video that shows you how I added all the different elements to my barn.

 

I started with Kraft card stock cut at 5 1/2" X 8 1/2".  I scored the card stock at 4 1/4" and 2 1/8".  I then cut another piece of Kraft card stock 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" for the front of my card.  Next I cut a piece of patterned paper 4" X 5 1/4" and attached to the card front.  Now came the fun part.

I started with the barn from the County Fair cartridge and sized it to 4.4" and 3.75". Once it was sized where I wanted it I flattened the image in Cricut Design Space so it would become a print and cut image.  Next I added the baby chick also from the County Fair cartridge. I just but him up in the hayloft window and using the sizing handles sized him down to fit within the opening. Once the chick was sized I grouped it with the barn and flattened it. 

Next I went to the Country Life cartridge and found the cute little pig with the chicken on top.  I inserted the image to my made and once again using the sizing handles sized it down to where I thought it looked good and again grouped it with the barn and then flattened it.  The water pump is also from the Country life cartridge and I also sized it, grouped it and flattened it.  Now all the images were one single print and cut file.

Next I needed something to put inside the card to create the stop for the Easel Card.  I found the ticket on the County Fair cartridge and using the Brand images I selected the two layers, colored them the colors I wanted and flattened them together. The finished ticket is sized 2.89" X 1.76".

All of my cuts were designed in Cricut Design Space and cut with my Cricut Explore.

Now I was ready to print and cut my two images which I did.  I attached the barn to the card front with some foam tape to give it some added dimension.  Next I adhered the card front base to the main card applying adhesive only to the small 2 1/8" X  5 1/4' section of the card front.

Next I stamped my sentiments using Memento Rich Cocoa ink and attached the ticket to the inside of the card again with some foam tape.

Both of my sentiments are from the CardzTV Country at Heart stamp set.

Mother's Day 3D Challenge

It is time for a new 3D Challenge over at CardzTV.  The Challenge this week is to make a 3D card for Mother's Day. Here is what I came up with.

I made an Easel Card for my project. I used bright yellow and blue card stock for my layers.  The final yellow layer behind my image is embossed with tiny flowers.  I apologize, that I don't know the name of the folder but it is a Sizzix embossing folder.

My image is from the Suburbia cartridge. It is called Gloria all dressed up. It is a simple cut just two layers yellow and black.  I cut her out at 3 1/2".  I used some daffodil liquid pearls to enhance her earring and the necklace because they are so tiny and hard to see..  She is attached to my card with some foam tape. The word Mom was cut from a Silhouette file but you could use any font you have..

To help my easel card stand up I added a blue mat cut at 2" X 4". I used a EK Success border punch to add the scalloped edge.  Next I cut a piece of yellow card stock at 1 1/2" X 3 3/4".  I used some Printworks Periwinkle Blue ink to stamp my sentiment.  The Queen for a day comes from the CardzTV This and That stamp set.  Happy Mother's Day is from the Happy Days stamp set.

Angels Watching Over You

Here is a card I made with my Cricut Explore.  This is why I love having the subscription. This card was cut from the Creative Cards cartridge. A cartridge I don't own but I needed a card quick so I found this one. I sized it to be a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base.  I inked the edges of the leaves with some sage distress ink.  For the center of the flower I added some flower soft to give the flower a little more texture. The sentiment is from a new CardzTV stamp set and I  stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I made this card for a good friend whose dad was just diagnosed with terminal cancer and she is really having a rough time.  She was at the hospital all day with her dad, and I took the card down to her house and left it for her on her screen door.  She just sent me text thanking me for the card. The one bit of brightness in her day.

Some Bunny Loves You!

I recently bought the CardzTV Easter Punnies stamp set  and just had to make a card with it.  I decided to make a tall card..  I started with a white card stock cut and folded to make a 4" X 9" card base. I added a bright pink mat cut at 3 3/4" X 8 3/4".  I then added the pastel polka dotted mat cut at 3 1/2" X8 1/2".

I cut my bunny at 7" with my Cricut Explore and Design Space.  The bunny is from the Create a Critter 2. I attached him flat to the card and then added a little grass border.

To finish the card I added some faux stitching with my white gel pen on the bow tie.  Finally I added some enamel dots to the upper corners.  I think I am going to give this card to my grandson Aiden.

3D Baby Gift Bag Challenge

Once again it is time for another 3D challenge over at Cardztv.  This n week's Challenge is to make an embellished gift bag for a baby.  Here is what I came up with.

My bag is from a Lori Whitlock files that I bought off of her website.  It was quick and easy to cut out and put together. I cut it at the default size and adhered it together.  The main bag is two pieces  cut from two pieces of 12 X 12 paper.  The bag and trim were cut from some paper in my stash.  I took an extra piece of the trim paper and cut it to fit between the handles  I used a scalloped EK Success edge punch and stamped my sentiment using the Ticket Talk 2 Cardztv Stamp Set.

Queen for a Day

Now that the holidays are over and I am starting to get settled into being retired, I am finding my Crafty Mojo is coming back! YEAH.  I have been having a great time learning more about my Cricut Explore.  The card I made today I used the Print and Cut feature.  I have a quick video I did for you, I apologize that it ends so abruptly, I was having issues with my editing software.

My card base is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock. I added a black mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". Next I added a piece of patterned paper cut at 3 7/8" X 5 1/8".  My image is cut from the Paisley cartridge at 4".  I decided I wanted to mount the cat on the card on something so I went to the Elegant Edges Cricut cartridge and cut this mat and it's shadow out at 4".  The top mat is a shiny light gray color.  I mounted the mat to the card with some foam tape and then added my cat.  My sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo black ink and is from the This and That CardzTV stamp set.  To finish the card I added some yellow stickles to the cat's crown, color and the trim around her pink pillow.

Tag You're It! CardzTV Challenge

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone already!  So it is time to gear up for Christmas.  There is a new challenge at CardzTV today.  The challenge is to make 3 small gift tags. Here are the ones I made.

All of my tags are cut at 3" from the Joys of the Season Cricut Cartridge using my Cricut Explore.  Want to see how I created these? Check out my video below. I will show you how to use the Contour feature in Design Space, how to Weld and how to add a score line.  All of these tags are actually only one layer.

I hope you found the video helpful.  Once I had all my tags cut I adhered all the layers together and then decorated them. Some I stamped a sentiment on the front of the tag and some I didn't.  All of the tags have the To: and From: stamped on the back.  The one that I welded together, the To and From are actually on the inside of the card. I used the Very Merry, Christmas Joy, and Home for Christmas CardzTV stamp sets.

Now it is your turn. Just for You! CardzTV 3D Challenge

It is time once again for a new 3D challenge over at CardzTV. The new challenge is "Just for You", make a gift card holder.  Here is what I did.

I found the pattern in the Silhouette Store.  I cut the image at the default size. If I were to make it again, I would increase the size by about 10 to 15%. When finished the gift card was a tight fit. I cut the back layer of my card out of green card stock. The front is cut from some patterned paper from the Doodlebug 6" X 6" Home for the Holidays paper pad.  

I adhered the front and back together with some tombow mono multi adhesive.  I stamped the sentiment on the cuff of my stocking with Cottage Ivy Memento Ink.

My sentiment is from the Christmas Joy CardzTV stamp set.

To finish the card, I used my white gel pen to add some stitching lines to my stocking and the patches on the toe and heal.  I used a Spica glitter pen in Olive to add the stitching lines to the cuff. To close my card, I added a small magnetic disc closure.

Birthday Card

 

Here is a birthday card I made for one of my co-worker.  This image reminded me of her.

   

My card is a tall card. my card base is cream card stock cut and folded to make a 4" X 9" card base.  I added a blue mat cut at 3 3/4" X 8 3/4". My patterned paper mat is cut at 3 5/8" X 8 5/8".

My image is cut at 6" from the Forever young cartridge. I only cut the base layer and the dress layer. I didn't want the necklace o the colored band that went across the bottom of the dress,

I had some cream colored rick  rack that I dyed using the Tim Holtz Picked Raspberry Distress Stain. Once it dried I adhered it to my dress using some Glossy Accents.  I added a clear rhinestone flourish. I attached my image to the card front using some foam tape.  My sentiment is stamped using the Good Times stamp set from CardzTV and Teal Zeal Memento ink.

You Put a Spell on Me!

So the we have had some very fall like weather the last couple of days. Cloudy, rain, wind, AND I saw some of the trees with their leaves changing color to those coral, red and orange colors so familiar with Fall. However, what type of card did I make? A Halloween card.

I found this cute circle card in the Silhouette store and of course I had to make it. The file cut as is makes a 5 1/2" round card. My base layer is the light gray, then I cut the scallop out of black, the circle out of the light gray and the top layer out of black. Once I had the card put together, it just screamed that it needed a little pizazz. So, I added some Firefly Stickles glitter to the bats eyes. Once that dried and then added some Glossy Accents to add some dimension to the eyes.

Next came the sentiment. I chose the "You put a spell on me" sentiment from the CardzTV stamp set "Trick or Treat". I stamped the sentiment in some tangerine ink on the gray paper. I used some Black Soot distress ink to ink around the edges of the sentiment after I rounded the corners. Next, to jazz it up a bit more, I used some Times Square Glimmer Glam and brushed it over the whole sentiment. The Glimmer Glam added some sparkle and shine but also helped the sentiment square look a little spookier and distressed. Finally to finish the card, I added some Cantaloupe Liquid Pearls to each of the big scallops.

Grillin' and Chillin'

I found this cute little Print and Cut cow BBQ Chef in the Silhouette store. As soon as I saw it, I knew the perfect sentiment!

My card base is Kraft card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added an aqua mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". My yellow mat is cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I used some Glimmer Glaze n Oil Slick to paint the tongs. I also used some Twinkling H2O in Persimmon and Mango to add some shimmer to the BBQ Fire.

My image is applied with some foam tape. The sentiment is from CardzTV Stamp set Summer Fun!

Just Add Water

Here is a quick card I put together the other day. The card was designed around the sentiment. The sentiment is from the CardzTV stamp set A Day at the Beach.I thought it was such a cute saying so set out to make a card that fit. I found this little turtle in the Silhouette store. He is a print and cut image.  The card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" Portrait style card. The patterned papers were from my stash and went perfectly with the turtle. The turtle is adhered with some foam squares. I added some glossy accents to his sunglasses to make the lenses look more like glass. My sentiment is stamped with some Memento Teal Zeal ink.  I decided to stamp my sentiment at an angle that went with the diagonal stripes on the paper. Just thought it added a fun tough to the card. To finish the card I added 3 buttons down the right side.

Fun Summer Cards

I found these adorable Print and Cut images in the Silhouette store and just had to make some cards with them.

All of the cards are 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  The patterned paper is from the Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade 6" X 6" paper pad.  All the sentiments are from the CardzTV Stamps. The images are all adhered with foam tape.

Valentine's Day Card

I had some time to do some crafting this afternoon and came up with this. The cherry hearts are from the Silhouette Store #53435. I cut the image at the default setting and it worked perfectly for my 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card.

I started with some white card stock for my base. I added a black mat cut at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" and a patterned paper mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". I then cut another black mat at 3 1/2" X 4 3/4" and then the blue polka dot mat cut at 3 3/8" X 4 5/8". I layered the first two mats together and adhered them to card base. I then layered the next to mats together and adhered them to my card base with some foam tape. All my patterned paper is from the Simply Stories Vintage Bliss 6 X 6 paper pad.

For my cherry hearts once I adhered all the layers I also add them to my card from with foam tape. My sentiment is from the Be My Valentine stamp set from CardzTV.  To finish the card, I added some rhinestone gems.
