Think Spring!

Where I live on the West Coast we have been having lots of sunny days and highs in the upper 50's to lower 60's.  So there are lots of signs of spring popping up.  Now I know that is not the case for a lot of you so I made this card with you in mind.

I recently purchased a a few new Die-Namics dies and this was one of them.  My card base is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" green card stock.  I cut an orange mat 4" X 5 1/4" and then the patterned paper mat was cut at 3 7/8" X 5 1/8".

I cut a mat for my die cut to sit on.  I found the mat in Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridge.  I sized the mat to fit my image.  I cut the oblong  image and its shadow with my Cricut Explore.  Love that Bluetooth feature.  I ran the green mat through my eBosser and embossed it with some little flowers.  I also used my eBosser to die cut my watering can.  I didn't add a sentiment yet because I am not sure yet how I will use the card.

Spring Chick!

After spending time blog hopping through several spring time blog hops and the fact that the sun actually came out today, I decided I had to make a spring card.

I started with a Kraft card stock card base scored and folded to 4 1/4” X 5 1/2”.  My patterned paper is a scrap in my stash. It is two sided paper so the yellow mat is actually just the reverse of the flowers.  The yellow mat was cut at 4” X 5 1/4” and the patterned paper was cut at 3 3/4” X 5”.  The chick and the egg are both from Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge. I used my Imagine and some RGB codes to flood the layers with color. The orange  and black are stock colors on the Imagine. The chick and its layers and the egg were all cut at 3”. I used some canary colored flocking powder to flock my baby chick to give him a fuzzy look. I used some spray adhesive to apply the flocking and actually gave the chick two coats of flocking. The lighter colored belly of the chick is flocked using Ultra Fine Flower Soft in Sand.  I ran the lower half of the egg through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder. The top half I left as is so I could stamp my sentiment on it. I adhered the chick and the egg top with one layer of foam tape and the lower half of the egg is on two layers of foam tape.  Thanks for visiting.

Wishing for Spring Card

Mary over at Cardz TV has a challenge going on to make a project that reminds you of spring. When I think of spring, I think of flowers blooming, trees blossoming, warmer weather and sunnier skies. I saw this image in my Kate’s Kitchen Cricut Imagine cartridge and immediately thought of a spring day, windows open for the first time, enjoying the sun and warmth of  spring.

My base is folded to make a 5 1/2” square card out of white card stock. Using my Imagine and the stock images, I flooded a 4.8” square with green selected from the colors pallet on Kate’s Kitchen. I then flooded a second square sized at 4.6” with a red gingham type pattern from the Kate’s Kitchen pattern pallet. I used the layers feature on the Imagine to cut my image of the window. All layers were cut at 4”. I layered the red mat on top of the green mat and adhered them to my card base. I attached the first layer of the window scene to my red mat using my ATG Gun. I then used foam tape to attach the curtains which I wrapped some rusty red ribbon around to make them pop a little more. I also attached the flower in its pot with foam tape. I added a dark turquoise pearl to the middle of my flower and some faux stitching to the green mat and a few doodle dots to the curtains and pot. I also added some faux stitching to the ribbon on the curtains. My time is pretty limited this weekend for crafting so had to keep the card fairly simple but I am pleased with how it turned out. I didn’t add a sentiment as I am not sure what I will use the card for, could be a birthday card, thinking of you, or a hello card. Thanks for visiting.
