Scrappy Frogs Think Spring Challenge

There is a new challenge up for April over at Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog. it it Think Spring! Here where I live in Oregon, we had record setting high temperatures this past Easter Weekend, with temperatures in the mid to upper 70's!!! It was awesome. So it was so easy to make a project that just screams Spring!! This is what I came  up with.

For my card, I started with a piece of white card stock, cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I then cut a bright blue mat at 4" X 5 1/4" and then a piece of Whitewashed Core' Denations card stock cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I then embossed it with a MBossiblities folder called Twigs and Tweets. I lightly sanded the embossed image so the light blue background showed through

I used a Cheery Lynn Die to cut my gate. I added a piece of green floral Washi Tape to anchor the gate as ground. I then added some Green Meadow flower soft on each side of the gate, to  represent a shrub. I also added some little birds die cut with a Memory Box die cut in blue and yellow. The Banner is stamped in Memento Bahama Blue ink on a piece of stripped paper and is from a Dear Lizzie stamp set.

New Year, New Skill

The new challenge over at Scrappy Frogs is to try something new! So for Christmas my husband bought me a Silhouette Cameo and what better time to give the print and cut a try then for this challenge. I do have to say it went without a hitch for which I am grateful.

My card base is  4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock. I added a black mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper cut to 3 3/4" X 5". For my trees, I used the print and cut feature on my silhouette with these four season trees, I followed the directions to print the registration marks and sent it to my printer. Then I adhered the paper to my Silhouette mat and asked it to recognize the registration marks and cut. It did an awesome job. Finally I attached each of the trees to my card with some foam tape and stamped my Happy Birthday sentiment. I think this would be a good birthday card for either my male or female friends don't you agree?

Happy Thanksgiving Card

The new challenge over at the Scrappy Frog Challenge blog is to make a Thanksgiving or thank you card. This is what I came up with.

My cardbase is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a brown mat cut at 3" X 3" and a cream mat cut at 2 7/8" x 2 7/8". I then drew a circle on the center of the mat. The leaves are from an EK Success border punch called Falling Leaves. These leaves were just cut from scraps of colored paper. I then added a few of the acorns that were bunched as well. I finished it with a twine bow and an Happy Thanksgiving stamp.

Fall Project

The new challenge over at Scrappy Frogs is to make a Fall or Halloween inspired project. This is what I came up with.

I started with a green card base cut to 5" X 7". I then ran a piece of orange Core'denations Card stock through my eBosser and embossed it with this Sizzix folder then sanded it. I added some paprika WOW! embossing powder to the leaves on the ground and falling from the tree. I also added some toffee flower soft to the bush on the left. Finally I colored in my leaves on my tree with some Copic and Spectrum Noir Markers and then spritz the whole things with a bit of gold glitter dust. I stamped my image with some Rich Cocoa Memento ink and attached it to my card base. I am real please with how this turned out. Red, White, and Blue Challenge

There is a new challenge over at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog. The challenge is to make a project using the colors Red, White, and Blue. This is what I came up with.

My card base is  4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock. I added a red mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then the blue dotted paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I also added a narrow strip of white cut at 1" X 5" and a red strip cut at 1/2" X 5". My flower is from the Forever Young Cricut Cartridge cut at 3". I ran the white layer through the Cuttlebug and embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder. To finish the flower I added a blue and polka dotted button. I also added some small red and white buttons.

Celebrate Men Card

We have a fun new challenge for you this month over at Scrappy Frogs. The challenge, called Celebrate Men, is to make a masculine project and use two embellishments. Here is what I came up with.

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" portrait style card. I added a dark turquoise mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then a black mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I embossed the black mat with the Argyle Sizzix Embossing Folder. The shirt was cut from the Simply Charmed cartridge at 3 1/2". I did not cut the face layer on the tie. I added some faux stitching to the tie and shirt color with a black gel pen and then added two small black nail heads for color buttons and a large clear rhinestone to the tie center to serve as a tie pin. The paper is from Echo Park.

Tag It Challenge

The challenge this month at Scrappy Frogs is to make a project and use a tag on it. Here is what I came up with.

I started with Kraft card stock that I cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a dark olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I cut my tag at 3" from the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge. I stamped a flourish pattern on the tag with some VersaMark ink. Then using my distress inks and foam applicator I started layering on colors. I used Wild Honey, Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, and Dusty Concord.  To finish my card, I added a narrow purple ribbon to the tag. The butterflies were cut from the Indie Cartridge at 1 1/4", 1" and 3/4". I spritzed them lightly with some Pearl Glimmer Mist. I also cut a couple of flourished from the Home Decor cartridge. I believe I cut those a 1 1/2" (sorry I can't remember the exact size). I added the flourish to the card and topped them with my butterflies. Finally I added some roses that are from Recollections. I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The sentiment says Friends fill your  life with joy, Your soul with sunshine, and your heart with love. I really liked that sentiment. Shape it Up !

The challenge this month over at Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog is to make a Shaped Card. Here is what I came  up with.

My shaped card was cut at 4 1/4" using the Sophie Cricut Cartridge. I used the Bubblegum Stripes Cricut Imagine cartridge to color my flower.  I used white card stock for the card base, and added the layers for the flower. I also added a large glittered button to the flower's center and stamped Hello with some dark blue ink. I hope you will join us at Scrappy Frogs for the challenge this month.

Hang in There!

The new challenge at Scrappy Frogs is Seeing Spots. Make a project with spots. This is what I came up with.

My card is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I cut my patterned paper at 4" X 5 1/4". My patterned paper is from Echo Park Dots and Stripes paper pad. I cut my image from the Meow Cricut Lite cartridge at 3 1/2" and I colored all my layers on the image with the colors and patterns from the Bubblegum Stripes Imagine cartridge. I inked around all the edges with some Memento Rich Cocoa. I created my sentiment on my computer and printed it out on some card stock. I hope you will join us in the challenge. Thanks for visiting.

Scrappy Frogs Challenge

The challenge this month over at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog is to make a project using lace. Here is what I came up with.

 My card is a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card base. I used a piece of pink patterned paper from the Victoria's Garden Echo Park paper pack. I inked the edges with some spun sugar distress ink. I used the Sophie cartridge for the two birds. I cut the bird image at 3". For the crowns on the birds I used some Glimmer Glaze. I added a piece of sheer lace with small roses on it under the birds along with some pearls. I also added a couple of pearls to the top of the roost the birds are on. Baby It's Cold Outside

The challenge this month over at scrappy frogs is to make a project that uses stitching in it. I decided to make a tall card, this card fits in a standard business envelope.

I started with a piece of Kraft card stock that I cut to 8" X 9" scored and folded it to make a 4" X 9" card base. I added a red card stock mat cut at 3 3/4" X 8 3/4" and some patterned paper cut to 3 1/2" X 8 1/2". I believe the patterned paper is from a DCWV paper stack I picked up last year. I cut the bird at 3" from the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge. I cut the sentiment at 1 1/2" from the same cartridge. I added some metallic blue faux stitching around the edge of the Kraft card base and the snowflake patterned paper. I also added some white faux to the red mat and to my little bird. Finally I had some white snowflake buttons that I sprayed with some glimmer mist and added some glimmer glaze to. I attached my cute little bird with an action wobble so he shivers when he moves. I add my sentiment with some foam tape and the buttons with some glue dots.

 I am a little behind in my posting and have a few more projects completed or almost completed so I hope to get those photographed and posted soon. Happy crafting everyone.

Happy Fall! Card

The current challenge at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog is to make a project using Kraft card stock. This is what I came up with.

I started with a 4 1/4” X 5 1/2” Kraft card stock card base. I cut the Scarecrow from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge at 3”. I colored all the layers with patterns and colors from the Kate’s Kitchen Imagine cartridge and used my Imagine for all my cuts. I added some small buttons to his overalls. Then I cut the phrase from the same page in the handbook at 1 1/2”. I cut some leaves from the Doodlecharms cartridge at various sizes between .5” to .9”. I then used some glimmer mist and distress inks to give them some extra color and shine. I added some twine around the card and did some faux stitching using my white gel pen. I used pop dots to adhere the scarecrow and phrase to my card front. I hope you will join us in the challenge.

Something that Flies

The current challenge over at Scrappy Frogs is Something that Flies. This is what I came up with. I stated with a 4 1/4" X 11" piece of pink card stock and scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a white piece of card stock cut to 4" X 5 1/4" that I inked the edges in black. Next I stamped some the birds in the bird cage randomly on the paper to create some patterned paper. I cut an oval out of black card stock and also white. I did a third stamping to create the worded back ground and then added the bird in the bird cage. Before adhering the white card stock to the card base I added some sheer pink and white polka dotted ribbon. Thanks for visiting and I hope you will join us in the challenge at Scrappy Frogs.

Vintage Card

The challenge this week at the Scrappy Frogs is to make a vintage card. This was a tough one for me, I don't make many vintage style cards. I came across this paper at my LSS and knew it would be perfect for the challenge. The paper is by Cosmo Cricket.

My card base is what card stock scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I cut a mat from the polka dot paper 4" X 5 1/4" and the flowered paper was cut at 3 3/4" X 5". and then added another strip of the polka dot paper (sorry I can't remember the size). The lace is actually a white lace that I sprayed with some Santa Baby and Old Lace glimmer mist. Finally I cut a stripped mat to fit my image and adhered everything to the front of my card. The image of the girl is pop dotted to the card front. I inked the edges of everything with tea dye distress ink. To finish off the card I added a red button to the top corner. Thanks for visiting.

Laughter is Life's Sweetest Thing

The challenge this week over at Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog is to use summer flowers on your project. The design team came up with some great inspiration. This is what I came up with.

I started with a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock card base. I added a purple mat cut to 4" X 5 1/4" and a floral patterned paper that reminded me of a summer field of wild flowers, cut to 3 3/4" X 5". I then added a 2" strip of green that I used an EK Success border punch on.  Finally I used the Lacey Labels Cricut Lite cartridge and cut the shape for my sentiment at 3". I cut the shadow out of purple and the main layer out of white and pop dotted it to my card front. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. The flower is a daisy I had in my stash. Happy Father's Day Card

The current challenge at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog is to make a project using the color Red. I decided to make a Father's Day Card. I started with a 8" X 9" cream card stock base that I scored and folded at 4" to create card that is 4" X 9". I added a brown mat cut at 3 3/4" X 8 3/4" . My patterned paper is from a DCWV stack and is cut at 3 1/2" X 8 1/2". I then cut a mat 2" X 8 1/2" and a cream mat cut at 1 3/4" X 8 1/2" I ran the cream piece through my cuttlebug and embossed it with the Tim Holtz texture fades embossing folder Steampunk. I adhered this cream mat to the brown mat and then to my card front just slightly lower then center. I cut my car from the Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge. I believe I cut the car at 2" cutting all the layers. I added some black nail heads to the center of the wheels and applied some Glossy Accents to the windshield of the card. I pop dotted the car to the front of my card and stamped my Happy Father's Day sentiment. I hope you join in the challenge over at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog.

21st Birthday Wishes

The new challenge at the Scrappy Frogs Blog is to make a Birthday project. My niece just turned 21 and this is the card I made for her. The card base was cut using the Cricut Imagine cartridge All Wrapped Up at 5 1/2”. I used the layer feature when cutting card. I then cut the sentiment at 1 1/4” also using the layers feature. I used the font from the Birthday Bash cricut cartridge to cut the 21. I cut the shadow from pink and the base layer in green. I added some firefly stickles to the 21 to make them stand out. I also added some gems to the mat and some faux white stitching around the card base. It was a quick easy card to put together.
