Love You Card

 

I saw this adorable cow image in Cricut Design space and had to make her. I think she is so cute.

I cute my image at 4 1/2" high. She was very easy to put together. I assembled her with liquid adhesive. 

For my card I started with some heavyweight white cardstock that was cut, scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. My pattern papers are from an older Doodlebug paper pad. I cut the word paper at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" and adhered that to my card base with liquid adhesive leaving a small white border around it. 

Next I used some older MFT Stitched Banner dies to cut my other pattern paper. I used the largest die to cut the tone on tone pink paper and the next smaller die to cut the heart pattern paper. I layered those together with liquid adhesive. I then adhered it to my card base with some thin foam adhesive. Next I adhered my image to the banners with some liquid adhesive and a few pieces of the thin foam tape under the areas that hung off the banners. To finish the card I added a bright pink gemstone to the center of the bow.

Happy Thanksgiving

 

Hello everyone. I wanted to be sure to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.  For my card today I started with some heavyweight cardstock cut, scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. Next I took a piece of kraft cardstock cut to 4" X 5 1/4", spritzed it lightly with some water and embossed it using the extremely detailed Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder Leaf Veins embossing folder to emboss my panel.

Next I used some Tonic Studios - Craft Perfect - Pearlescent Card - 6 x 6 - Autumn Maple and my Tim Holtz  3D Impresslits Embossing Folder and Die Oak Leaf.  The embossing folder and the Impresslits folder provide so much detail.  This paper is beautiful. Be sure to check it out.

Finally, I used my Cricut Maker to cut out my sentiment.  I used some brown cardstock to cut out my offset I created, and some gold matte cardstock for my main layer of my sentiment.

I adhered my kraft cardstock to my card base. Next I added my oak leaves using some foam tape.  I adhered my sentiment to it's offset and then added it to my card front using some foam tape. 

To finish the card I added a few gold pearls from Kat Scrappiness. These gold pearls are a must have addition to your collection.

Masculine Birthday Card

 

I don't know about you but I always find creating masculine cards a bit of a challenge. I had to make a birthday card last week for my step dad so I thought I would share with you all.

To create my card I started with some heavy weight white card stock that was cut, scored, and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base.

Next I took some tan colored cardstock cut to 4" X 5 1/4" and stamped it using the Honeybee Stamps 6" X 6" Barn Wood Background stamp using some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink. After I stamped it I took a blending brush and using the Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink lightly went over the entire panel. I then lightly misted the panel to create some texture and distressing. I then used some liquid glue to adhere this panel to my card base.

My image is from Cricut Access. I resized my image so it was about 2 1/2" tall then flattened it so I could do a print then cut with the image. Once it was cut out I added some foam tape to the back of the image and adhered it to the lower right hand corner of my card front.

To finish the card I used a Memory Box Happy Birthday die from my stash. I cut the Happy Birthday out of some dark brown cardstock. I used liquid adhesive to adhere it to the top center of my card. I then stamped two secondary sentiments onto more of the dark brown cardstock using Versamark ink. I heat embossed these two sentiments using some Simon Says Stamp Cream embossing powder. I used a sentiment strip die to cut them out. These little sentiments are from the My Favorite Things Itty Bitty Birthday sentiment stamp set.

Floating By to Say Hi

 Happy HOT Sunday everyone. We are having record setting highs this weekend. 108 yesterday,  it is currently 109 here at 2:15 in the afternoon. We are forecast to be 113 to 115 today. So what to do? stay inside with the air conditioner running full time and do some crafting. Since I am only 10 days out from a total knee replacement I wanted something quick. So I designed this card using images from Cricut Access.

Cricut is currently running a contest to win a Cricut Cutie. Here is a link to the information on how to enter. Basically you just have to make a project using a Cricut Cutie and post a picture to their pinned post on their Facebook page. So I came up with this.

All of the images are from Cricut Access. I saw this cutie and thought he would be cute floating in a pool or on something. I found this inner tube and knew it would be perfect.

First I added a rectangle to my canvas is Design Space and sized it to 6.25" wide and 4.5" tall. I then added the inner tube and the cutie image. I resized my cutie so he would fit inside the inner tube. Then I selected both images and resized them to fit on the left hand side of mt rectangle. Now for a sentiment. I decided to create my own. I went looking for a font and settled on the Beefcake font. I typed my sentiment and resized it to fit the space on my card front. I used the curve feature on the text to slightly curve each line of the sentiment. I used the color sync function to color each letter colors from my image. I then selected everything including the white rectangle and flattened the images so they would be a print and cut (the quick and easy part of the design). 

Looking at the card there was a blank spot in the upper right hand corner. I decided to add some additional splashes. I went back to Cricut Access to find the perfect image. I found the word Splash with three splash marks on the left hand side. I was able to use the contour feature to remove the word splash so I was left with the splash marks. I then rotated them and resized them to fit on the card. I then unflattened my original image and changed it back to basic cut so I could use the color sync feature to change the color of the three splash marks the same blue as the other ones. After I did that I once again selected everything and flattened it once again.

I was not able to use my iPad to make this project because of the curved text so used my laptop to print and cut my image. It was now time to make my card.

For my card, I started with some heavyweight cardstock That was cut to 7" X 10". I scored the cardstock at 5". I folded the card base reinforcing the score with my bone folder. I added a light blue mat cut about 1/8" larger than my card front. I added the card front to the blue mat with liquid adhesive. I then adhered the card front and blue mat to my card base with some foam tape for some added dimension.

To finish the card, I added some Nuvo Crystal Glitter Drops in White Blizzard to the splashes, just a little bit to one side of the splashes. I really felt like the splashes would shine and sparkle in the sun.

Hello Summer

 

When I saw this cute pineapple with his summer sunglasses on in Cricut Access I knew I had to make a card with him. I decided to create a mini slimline card with him.

First I brought my pineapple image into Design Space. Next I added a rectangle that I changed the color of to white and sized it to 3" X 5.75". I then resized the pineapple so it would fit on the rectangle.  Next I wanted to add a sentiment. So, I typed my sentiment and then went looking for a font. I filtered my kerning fonts in Design Space by looking for writing fonts. I finally settled on this one called DTC Sahara Smooth. I then attached my sentiment to the white rectangle. I then headed to my Cricut Maker to write and cut out the layers for my card.  I cut the base layer of the pineapple out of some dark yellow. I cut the second layer out of some Yukon Gold Bazzill card stock. I used some silver mirror card stock for the lenses of my sunglasses. Of course green was used for the pineapple top and black for the mouth and frames of the glasses.

I used liquid adhesive to adhere all my layers of the pineapple together. I used some foam tape behind the pineapple to pop him up on the card panel.  I used some heavy weight card stock that I cut to 6" X 6.5". I scored my card base at 3 1/4" so I ended up with a 3 1/4" X 6" card base.  I adhered the card panel  to my card base using more liquid adhesive. 

To finish my card I added  some sequins from the Simon Says Stamp Pineapple Sequins mix. I had to, what with the name and all. I also added some Nuvo Glitter Pen to his green top.

Let's Craft and Create June Challenge #172 AG option Add Buttons

 

It is time for a new challenge over at Let's Craft an Create. The June Challenge is Anything Goes (AG) option to add buttons. With Father's Day coming up I thought it would be fun to do a shaped card.

First I found my image in Cricut Access. I inserted the image into Design Space and using the new offset feature created an offset for my shirt. I then duplicated the offset and flipped one vertically. I then aligned the neck are so they were slightly overlapping and then welded them together to create my card base. I added a score line where the two images welded together. I then resized my image so it would fit in an A2 envelope.

Next I changed the colors of my shirt layers. I then selected all my shirt layers and resized them to fit on my card base leaving a small white border all around the edge. I also used the Contour feature to hid the buttons on the shirt. I wanted to use these tiny white buttons I had in my stash.

I then went looking for a sentiment and found this one. It had a couple of layers to the original image.It also had some fancy scroll work across the top. I hid the back layer and used the slice feature to cut off the scroll work which I didn't want. I changed the text to white and the banner to a dark blue then flattened it to make it a print then cut image.

Finally I let my Cricut Maker score, print and cut all my layers. I assembled all the layers of the shirt with liquid adhesive and attached it to my card base with more liquid adhesive. I then attached the little buttons to the front of my shirt with little drops of liquid adhesive. I used a small strip of foam tape in the center of the sentiment banner and some liquid adhesive on the banner ends to attach the sentiment banner to my card.

Masculine Birthday Card

 

Here is the birthday card I made for my husband's birthday next week. This image was created using the draw and cut feature in Cricut Design Space. I found the image in Cricut Access. It was a Draw and Cut image already but I wanted to make some changes. I duplicated the image 3 times and using the contour feature hid the contours I didn't want so I could make the lighthouse red, the windows a dark blue, and the clouds a very light blue. I had a lot of fun playing with this one.

I found the sand layers in Access also and just resized them to fit what I needed. I cut everything out of white card stock. After my Cricut Maker drew and cut everything it was time to get working on putting my card together.

For my card base I started with some heavy weight card stock that was cut, scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. Next I took the two layers for the sand and ink blended them with some Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress ink. I then added some splatter to them using the same inks and a small round paint brush.

I found the blue pattern paper in my stash so not sure where it came from. I think it is from the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes 6 X 6 paper pad. I couldn't find anymore of it. The corners were already cut at an angle. It was perfect for the sky in my scene.

I adhered the two sand layers to the bottom of the blue pattern paper using some liquid adhesive. I stamped my sentiment using some Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy ink. Next I added my lighthouse. The bottom of the lighthouse was adhered directly to the sand layers using liquid adhesive. Since the lower part of the lighthouse was on the two layers of sand I adhered the upper part of the lighthouse with a layer of foam tape so that it would be level with the bottom part. 

I was left with some blank spots at the top that needed something. So I went through my stamps and found the birds in a Hero Arts card kit that I bought a couple of years ago. I stamped them on each side of the lighthouse using the same Soft Navy ink I used for the sentiment. I then used some foam tape on the back of my scene to pop it up and adhere it to my card base.

Happy Anniversary

 

I just wanted to share the card I made for my husband for our 33rd Anniversary. I found the card in Cricut Access. I tweaked a bit. I sized it down to a card size of about 4.5" square.

I cut the card base out of some heavy weight white card stock. The next layer was cut from some pearlized cream card stock. The next two layers were cut from a navy blue and a red card stock.

 

 I also found this sentiment in Cricut Access and had my Cricut write out using a fine tip pen. I created a layer to go inside the card that was just slightly smaller than the card. I had my Cricut write on that and then cut it out.

Before layering everything together I heat embossed my sentiment using some Simon Says Stamp Ultra Fine Cream Embossing powder. The sentiment is from the Avery Elle Loads of Wishes stamp set..

Once my sentiment was done I adhered everything together using some liquid adhesive. I then used a small heart die from my stash to cut two hearts out of a scrap of the navy card stock. I adhered those to the card at each end of the sentiment and coated them with glossy accents.

I am happy with how this turned out. I knew I wanted a fun shaped card for this project. I appreciate you stopping by for a visit. Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Side Edge Birthday Card

 

I have a new card for you today. I did not design this. Deanna Bell did and shared the file in a Facebook group I am in. However I did make some tweaks to the design so it would work for me.

First thing I did was resize the card. The original design was a 5" square card. I changed to 5.225" high which then changed the width to 4.066". This card will fit in an A2 envelope. Be sure when resizing to do all the layers at the same time so everything resizes proportionally 

The next thing I did was change the sentiment from Mother's Day to Happy Birthday. The sentiment is from Cricut Access and cut great. 

I then resized and moved the sentiment down to the bottom of the card. That left a blank spot at the top that needed filling. I decided to add a butterfly and found this white one I liked. It was a print and cut image which worked out great since all the tulips are print and cut also. Everything was cut with my Cricut Maker.

I assembled my card using liquid adhesive and a bit of foam tape. The butterfly is adhered to the card with liquid glue under its body and small pieces of foam tape under its wings. I also added some Nuvo Shimmer Pen to its wings.

It's Your Day

 

Today I have another birthday card. Most of it was made using my Cricut Maker. This card is for my oldest grandson who is turning seven next week.

 For the card base I used some light orange card stock from my stash. The card base is from the Alexis Mattox - Classically Modern Cards image set and is the Congratulations balloon card. The card has balloons cut out of the top layer and then a slightly smaller layer behind it to give the balloons color. I used the contour feature to remove the balloons from the top layer. I then resized the card to 8.5 wide and kept the lock closed so it resized proportionately. I then took the second layer and made it a bit smaller as I wanted a bigger border on the front of my card.

Next I went to the Star Wars™ - The Child Season 2 image set and found my Baby Yoda I liked. This image set is included in a Cricut Digital Mystery Box that was released today, April 22, 2021.  My balloons come from the Disney® - UP image set. It was also in a digital mystery box that was released several months ago so I am not sure if it is available in Cricut Access. The original image has the balloons attached to a house which I didn't want. I was able to ungroup everything and delete  all the layers of the house. There are also some black balloon strings and I sliced those off. I then arranged Yoda in front and to the side of the balloons and then flattened the images together.

I then did the print and cut for my Yoda image. Next I had my Cricut cut out my card base and then the patterned paper layer. I folded the card base and then added the pattern paper. The pattern paper is from an Echo Park It's Your Birthday Boy 6" X 6" paper pad. Next I popped up my image. My sentiment is from the Whimsy Stamp Simple Sentiments stamp set. I embossed the sentiment on a scrap of the orange card stock.  I stamped the sentiment using Versamark Embossing ink then used some California Sunshine Wow embossing powder.  I love how it looks more orange after it melted.

To finish the card I added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the balloons and sprinkled them with a little glitter. The crystal glaze was still wet when I took my picture so I have a bit of a glare. Then I added the blue stars which were from Sizzix. This card will fit in a standard A2 size envelope.
