I have another mini slimline card for you today. I recently received this Mini Slimline Diamond Wire and Wood Grain die from Kat Scrappiness and just had to use it. I think it is so pretty and I love the look it gave my card front.

For my card I started with some heavyweight white cardstock that I cut, scored and folded to make a card base that measured 3 1/8" X 5 3/4". I made it this size to match the size of my card front panel. I wanted it to completely cover the front of my card.

Next I chose a couple of pattern papers from a 6" X 6" paper pad in my stash. I am not sure of the name of the pad, sorry. I wanted a kind of vintage look. For the background I chose a tone on tone red snowflake pattern that I cut with the Mini Slimline Never Ending Dies also from Kat Scrappiness. I used the largest die to cut the snowflake paper. I am really loving these Mini Slimline dies. Next I found this vintage looking paper that looked like a page of newspaper ads. I decided to use it with the Mini Slimline Diamond Wire and Wood Grain die. Because it is a pattern paper the wood grain embossing didn't show up as well as I wanted. I ran it through my die cutting machine using the embossing sandwich and that helped a little.

To help bring out that would grain pattern I decided to ink the edges of the frame with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  To do this I used the Mini Blending Brushes at Kat Scrappiness. You get 3 sizes of these brushes, I used the largest and it worked great. Definitely something you want to add to your stash. I adhered the two pattern papers together using some liquid adhesive.

Next I started on my nutcracker. I found him in Cricut Access. If you have a Cricut and don't have Access you really should. I sized the nutcracker to fit my card and cut out the layers and adhered him together. I then used my Vintage Photo and the same mini blending brush to distress him. I adhered him directly to my card panel with liquid adhesive. He has quite a bit of dimension from all his layers.

I heat embossed my sentiment with some Antique Gold embossing powder on a scrap of cardstock used to cut his pants.  To finish the card I added some Gold Pearls from Kat Scrappiness. Be sure to check out her embellishments she has some great ones for the coming holidays.

Give Thanks Quokka Style

 

Today I have for you a card I made using products from Kat Scrappiness. I used the adorable Dress Up Quokkas stamp set and the Thanksgiving Costume Add On stamp set. I thought these little pilgrim costumes were so cute.  

For my card I started with some heavyweight white cardstock cut, scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I cut a dark brown mat at 4" X 5 1/4".  I  cut the orange gingham paper at 3 3/4" X 2 3/4". The blue pattern paper was cut at 3 3/4" X  3 1/4". I adhered the orange paper down to my brown mat with some liquid adhesive. I then adhered the blue pattern paper to the brown mat also with liquid adhesive overlapping the orange paper just a little. The white with the brown polka dotted paper was just a scrap I had sitting on my table.  I cut it to 3 3/4" and adhered it over the seam with liquid adhesive.

Next I stamped my images onto some alcohol friendly white cardstock using some alcohol safe black ink. I colored my images using my Arteza Everblend Markers. Once I had my images colored I used the coordinating dies for the Quokkas and the Thanksgiving Costumes to cut out all my images.

Now the fun part, adhering everything to the card front. Once I had my images adhered it was time for a sentiment and embellishments. I stamped my sentiment in some gingerbread ink die cut the word thanks with its matching die. To die cut the word give I used the smallest rectangle from the Mini Slimline Never Ending Dies. I just ran it through my die cutting machine twice so I could cut it to the size I wanted.  (These dies are on sale today you can save 25% off).  To embellish my card I used two gorgeous embellishment sets from Kat Scrappiness, the Shimmering Fallen Leaves Sequin Mix and the Shimmering Autumn Sequin Mix. (Both of these are also currently on sale). I wanted my little Quokkas to have a shiny nose so I added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to them. Finally I added a little bit of Stardust Stickles to my leaves and acorns.
