Cricut Cardz Challenge #64

 

The challenge this week over at Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make a bookmark.  I didn’t have a lot of time but wanted to play along so here is what I came up with.

Unfortunately I didn’t write down all my sizes but I cut the tag for my book mark using Plantin Schoolbook and the tag found under the Italic option. I resized the tag on my Gypsy so it was 2 1/2” wide and 6” tall. I cut the tag twice once out of cream cardstock and then again out of the patterned paper as I wanted the bookmark sturdier than the pattern paper alone would have made it. The rest of the cuts are from Graphically Speaking and these are the ones I am not sure of the sizes, I believe about  1 1/2” to 2”. I inked all the edges with some Tea Dye distress ink. Attached everything to the bookmark and added some olive green ribbon at the top.

Wall Sign

I got the idea for this wall sign from Momo at Made by Momo. When is saw this I knew right away I wanted to make one.  A friend of mine's son is getting married a few weeks and I thought this would be a perfect gift. The photo on the sign was sent out with the wedding invitation. I chose colors that went with colors in the photo. Each section of the sign is 4" X 6". I started with chipboard, and covered it with a dark turquoise card stock. The patterned paper is by Bo Bunny. I cut the mats from the patterned paper at 3 3/4" x 5 3/4". I used Plantin Schoolbook for their names and the date. I cut the letters from cream paper at 1 1/4" and the shadow from the same dart turquoise also at 1". The word Forever is from the Tie the Know cartridge and was cut at 2" also in cream and turquoise. I matted the picture with the same cream and turquoise and placed it on the center section of the sign. I used my Bind-it-All and 1/2" wires to attach the sections together. The ribbon I got at Joanns. the flowers are Prima flowers and I added some clear rhinestones to the center of each flower as well as some smaller rhinestones to the centers of some of the flowers on the patterned paper. Dressed up Expression!

The Gypsy Challenge this week on the Cricut Messageboard was to use the kerning feature on the gypsy. This was hard one for me as I usually make cards and wanted to do something a little different. So, I decided to dress up my Cricut Expression a bit. I kerned the word Creation at 0.2 and the word Station 0.4. I used Plantin Schoolbook for the words. This is my first real project with vinyl and using the transfer tape. I did not get the words on as straight as I had hoped but not bad. I then cut a couple of flourishes from Straight From the Nest cartridge for the back of the Expression. It was actually a pretty fast project. I may still do a little more to the front when I have a chance.

Recipe Book

Here is the recipe book I made for my Mom for Christmas. She lost everything in a fire a couple of years ago so I thought it would be fun to make this book with some of her old recipes and some newer recipes. I cut the cover using Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. The dividers were cut at 4 1/4" using the From My Kitchen cartridge, I used the tabs on the first 3 keys. I used the Center Point feature to cut out all of the recipe pages and the extra pages I included in the book. I used one of the recipe cards on the cartridge also cut at 4 1/4". I cut the tabs also from the From My Kitchen cartridge. The actual words, I printed on the same color card stock as the tabs and made a cut from Lyrical Letters at 3/4" tall and 1.1/2" wide. I then cut each one individually using the file I created.  On the cover I cut the word recipe from the From My Kitchen cartridge at 1 1/2" and also cut the oval at the same size. The apron I cut at 3" and cut all the layers. I used my Bind-It-All to bind it.  I am really pleased how this turned out.
