Anything Goes Challenge

The new Cricut Cardz Challenge at Cardz TV is Anything Goes!! This is what I came up with.

I started with a rust colored card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X5 1/2" card base. I then added a olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" then another rust mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5" and then the striped patterned paper cut at 3 1/2" X 4 3/4" from a K & Company paper stack. I cut my lady scarecrow from the Simply Charmed cartridge at 3 1/2". For her face I cut it out of white card stock then colored it flesh color with some Copic markers and used a Peach Keen stamp for her face. I added some rosy cheeks and my white gel pen to add some highlights on her checks and to color in her eyes. For the gem on the flower and on her pinafore I took some clear rhinestones and colored them with a gold colored marker. Happy Fall Ya'll is from the Thankful for You Cardz TV Stamp set. Boo!

I made this fun Halloween card this afternoon. I started with a black card base cut and scored to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a green patterned paper mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and a black mat cut at 3 7/8" X 5 1/8" and then the candy paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I used my Fiskars spiderweb border punch to punch a piece of black paper cut at 1 1/4" X 3 3/4 and then added another strip of green paper cut at 3/4" X 3 3/4". Then I added a piece of ribbon. My patterned paper is from a Cloud 9 paper stack I have had for a couple of years.

My ghost is from the Simply Charmed cartridge and is cut at 3". I attached my ghost to my card with an action wobble and finished it with two small black buttons.

School's Cool Challenge

The new challenge over at Cricut Cardz Challenge is to make card for Back to School using any cartridges and colors you like. This is what I came up with.

I started with a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock card base. I added a primary green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper which I believe is from a DCWV paper stack, at 3 3/4" X 5". I used the Simply Charmed cartridge to cut the crayon box and its layers at 3". I also cut the sentiment from the cartridge at 1 1/2". I added some faux stitching with a black and white gel pens. The crayon box is adhered to my card with some foam tape.

Summer Fun!

The new challenge at Cardz TV Cricut Cardz Challenge is Summer Fun. To make a card for any occasion using Summer as the theme. To me, nothing says summer like a nice cold, juicy slice of watermelon. What says summer to you?

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a dark green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and the yellow patterned paper mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I added a bit of  red gingham ribbon. My watermelon slice and its layers are cut from the Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge at 3 1/2" and adhered to my card front with some foam tape. I added some small black nail head embellishments for the seeds. Finally I stamped my sentiment from the Cardz TV Fun in the Sun stamp set. I stamped the sentiment with some Lady Bug Memento ink on some white card stock. I cut the edge of the sentiment to look like a banner and inked the edges with the Lady Bug ink and attached it to my card.

Celebrate Men Card

We have a fun new challenge for you this month over at Scrappy Frogs. The challenge, called Celebrate Men, is to make a masculine project and use two embellishments. Here is what I came up with.

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" portrait style card. I added a dark turquoise mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then a black mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I embossed the black mat with the Argyle Sizzix Embossing Folder. The shirt was cut from the Simply Charmed cartridge at 3 1/2". I did not cut the face layer on the tie. I added some faux stitching to the tie and shirt color with a black gel pen and then added two small black nail heads for color buttons and a large clear rhinestone to the tie center to serve as a tie pin. The paper is from Echo Park.

Find Joy in the Simple Things

Here is a card I made this afternoon to send to a friend who has been going through some trials in her life. I started with a 4 1/4” X 5 1/2” white card stock base for my card. I added a pink mat cut to 4” X 5 1/4” and the added the patterned paper from a DCWV All About Girls mat stack cut to 3 3/4” X 5”. The mushroom is from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge. I cut the all the layers of the mushroom at 3 1/2”. I adhered everything flat to the card. For my sentiment mat I cut a piece of the pink paper at 1 1/2” and used an EK Success border punch to give it that open scalloped border. I then cut a piece of white card stock at 1 1/4”. Finally I stamped my sentiment with some Tea Dye distress ink and added the small buttons for a little more pop of color.

I think this will put a smile on my friends face, don’t you. I can’t help but smile when I look at the little mushroom. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Fall! Card

The current challenge at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog is to make a project using Kraft card stock. This is what I came up with.

I started with a 4 1/4” X 5 1/2” Kraft card stock card base. I cut the Scarecrow from the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge at 3”. I colored all the layers with patterns and colors from the Kate’s Kitchen Imagine cartridge and used my Imagine for all my cuts. I added some small buttons to his overalls. Then I cut the phrase from the same page in the handbook at 1 1/2”. I cut some leaves from the Doodlecharms cartridge at various sizes between .5” to .9”. I then used some glimmer mist and distress inks to give them some extra color and shine. I added some twine around the card and did some faux stitching using my white gel pen. I used pop dots to adhere the scarecrow and phrase to my card front. I hope you will join us in the challenge.

Love Bug

Here is another Valentine's Day card I made using the Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge and the Better Together Cricut Imagine Cartridge. My card base is white card card stock scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card. My patterned paper is Basic Grey. The pink mat is cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and the top layer is cut at 3 3/4" x 5". I used my corner rounder to round all the corners of the card and the mats. I cut the little bug at 3" from the Simply Charmed cartridge and used the Better Together cartridge to add the pink colors to the layers. The base layer of the bug was colored black and cut. I cut the sentiment Love Bug at 1 1/4" using both layers and again the Imagine for the colors. I added some Martha Stewart pink glitter to the heart on the back of the bug and some tutti fruity stickles to the bugs cheeks. I sprayed the sentiment with some Pearl Glimmer Mist but the shimmer doesn't show up in the photo. You do need to be careful doing this as it does look as if the color runs slightly. I added a pink satin ribbon and popped the bug up on pop dots. I am pleased how it turned out.

Advent Calendar

Here is my project I have been working on for the last two days. Last Christmas I made my mom an Advent Calendar so this year she asked if I was making one for her this year. So, I thought why not. So off to Google I went and did a search for Cricut Advent Calendars. Here is the site I found for inspiration.http://www.bubblyfunk.co.uk/tracie-hudson-christmas-advent-a-39.html.

This calendar was made using small matchboxes. Of course I thought I can make those. I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More, Cricut Cartridge and cut 24 matchboxes. I cut the drawer part at 3" but had to enlarge the box part so the drawers went in easier. I resized the box part of the cut on my Gypsy and cut them at 3.08". The boxes were scored and assembled using Score-Tape. I added green and red brads from American Crafts. Directions on how to create this project can be found on the link above. I used two 6" X 6" pieces of chipboard for the top and bottom portions of the "cabinet". For the top I cut Christmas Wishes from the Winter Frolic Cartridge at 2 1/2". Cuts for the sides were cut at 1 1/2". I cut the numbers for the drawers at .45" using the Roly Poly font from the Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge.

The mittens were so small when I cut them I couldn't use the snowflakes that were cut to go on top of them. Instead, I used my white gel pen to draw in the snowflakes and then used my Quickie Glue Pen to apply glue and Martha Stewart Sugar Cube glitter. I also used the same glue and glitter for the white cuff's of the mittens.
