Get Well Soon

Here is a quick get well soon card I made this afternoon. The card is made from white card stock and is 4 1/2" X 6. The orange mat is 4 1/4" X 5 3/4" and the dark pink mat is 4" X 5 1/2" made from some Bazzill card stock I had on hand. The print mat is from the DCWV Stack 6 and is 3 3/4" X 5 1/4".  I then used a Fiskars embossing and edge punch to punch the bottom of each mat. The ribbon is some I got from Craft Warehouse. The butterflies were from the Graphically Speaking Cricut Cartridge and cut at 1 3/4" from both the orange and pink Bazzill card stock and adhered with foam tape. I wanted to bling it up a little so went over the butterflies with some Crystal Stickles. I am not too happy with the way they photographed, it looks as if the stickles are still a little wet in spots so they appear a little clumpy. They don't look that way on the actual card. If I get a chance to take another picture I will after they have dried overnight. The Get Well Soon stamp is from Hero Arts and I used a Pearlescent Coral Brillance Ink Pad.

Baby Shower Card

We are having a baby shower for a Co-worker next week and I was asked to make a card. Her layette set is Tall Tales by Carter so I used that for inspiration. Tall Tales is dark brown with circles of aqua, orange, and blue with a giraffe on it.  I used the giraffe from the Paisley cartridge. I cut two of the giraffes, one at 3" and a smaller one at 2". I used some pumpkin colored card stock for the 1st layer. The dotted paper is from Michael's. The chocolate brown is by Die Cuts With A View that I bought at Joann's and the cream colored card stock is just from my stash. The card is 8 1/2" X 5 1/2". I used cream colored card stock for the card,  and cream for the layers. I embossed the cream colored card stock with the Cuttlebug Bloom Dot A2 embossing folder. The word baby is cut from Gypsy Wanderings at 1 1/4". I used pop dots for the giraffe's and the word paper to give the card some added dimension. Thanks for looking.

Paisley Valentine Card

Here is a quick card I made using the Paisley Cricut Cartridge. I laid everything out on my gypsy before cutting.  The frog and layers were all cut at 3". The card is 4 1/2" x 6". The frog paper is from K & Company and is a single sheet I picked up a my LSS and is cut at 4 1/4" X 5 3/4".  All the frog layers were cut from scraps of paper I had on hand.  I used my Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge to cut the tags from page 98 of the manual. They are .75" X 3" and I used both the tag and the shadow. The sentiment is a stamp I picked up at my local craft store. For an additional whimsical look I added some googly eyes that I bought from the Dollar Store. Thanks for looking.

Cardinal Christmas Card

Here is a quick card I made last night using the Winter Woodland Cricut cartridge. It was a lot of fun to make. The card is a standard A2 size. The red mat was cut at 4" X 5 1/4" the white mat was cut at 3 3/4" X 5. I ran this white piece through my Cuttlebug and embossed it using the snowflake embossing folder. All the cuts were cut at 2". I first saw this color combination on the Christmas With the Cricut blog and thought it looked so elegant that I knew I had to do a card using the idea.

A Wedding Card

Here is a card I made for a friend who is getting married this Saturday. I used the Stretch Your Imagination cricut cartridge to make the Bride and Groom cut 3 1/4". I cut the brides dress layer out of some brocade glitter paper I had on hand. I don't know who made it, this was just a small piece I had leftover from another project. the card went together quickly. The brown patterned paper is from Stampin Up. I also used a frame of cream and the card itself is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" out of some brown cardstock I had on hand.

Halloween Card

I made a Halloween Card today and wanted to share it. I kept it simple and used some Orange cardstock I bought at Michaels for the card base. The striped patterned paper at the bottom of the card is from Stampin Up! I used my Cricut Design Studio that I received a week ago for the first time to cut something with my Expression. My Lyrical Letters cartridge had the Happy Halloween on it and the spider, I decided I wanted the spider hanging from the word Halloween so I welded it to the Sentiment in Design Studio. Using Design Studio also allowed me to lengthen the spider's string so it hung down low enough. The bling on the card is some Halloween adhesive gems I got on clearance at Michaels.

Get Well Card

My sister-in-law had surgery the other day and is still in the hospital. Here is the get well soon card I made her this afternoon. I heard about this Video on YouTube as well as information posted on an online Yahoo group I belong too. The video provides good instructions as well as the measurements. This is my interpretation of the card in the video. The card base is paper from DCWV. The print paper is from Stampin Up.  The print paper is cut at 2 1/2 X 1 7/8". The card base is 8 1/2" X 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4". The blue color block in the middle is 3 1/2" X 2 3/8" and the white is 3 1/4" X 2 1/8". I printed out the sentiment on the computer. I was asked to make a card for an AmeriCorp volunteer who has worked for us for the last two years. Her assignment is complete the end of this week. Here is what I came up with. The paper is from Stampin Up and the sentiment I cut with my Cricut using the Lyrical Letters cartridge. I cut it at 2 1/2" and then add some ribbon and some stickles for a little bling. Card Tutorial

I was asked for directions on how to make the snowflake card. So here is my attempt at doing a tutorial. Sorry I am not able to post a video. I started with the SVG file that Penny Duncan created for me. The file is available for download on her blog. I used a piece of heavy 12 X 12 cardstock to cut out the file. It cuts two 5 1/2 X 8 1/2" pieces with an oval cut out of the center. Penny also created some scalloped circles that cut from the ovals to use in the middle of the card. I cut the card with my Cricut Expression and Sure Cuts A Lot software.

Once everything is cut out and removed from the mat you need to fold each side of the card in half. Penny created a small dashed score line that the cricut cuts into the card. At least for the two I made it didn't cut completely through the card but did help me determine where to fold the card.

 

You then need to fold each the front of the card back on itself in half, do this for the back as well. (This is the confusing part).  It should look like the picture on the right when you are done folding. Again there is a small dotted line that the cricut cuts to show you where to fold.

You now going to attach a small narrow ribbon to the card to attach the scalloped circle in the middle of the oval. You will need to determine if you want your ribbon attached at both the top and bottom of the card or only at the top of the card. By attaching it to both the top and bottom the scalloped circle doesn't swing as much as is does when attached to the top of the card only. Attach the ribbon to on edge of the scallop so it will end up centered on the card when it is put together. Hopefully the picture will help explain this better, (I did get my ribbon slightly off center).

Tape or glue the card in the area between the two ovals (where the crease is) to adhere each half of the card to itself.

Do this to both sides of the card. Then glue or tape each remaining free side of the card. You will attach the two cards together one side at a time so that the card forms a +. Be sure that the ovals line up. If the outside edges don't line up those can be evened up using your paper cutter. )Sorry I forgot to take a picture of this part. The card attached looks like this. Add your scallop circle attaching it to the ribbon in the center of the oval cutout.

Add any sentiments or embellishment to your card and you are finished.

Once you figure out how this card goes together it is a relatively simple card to make it just has several steps. I hope this helps explain the steps to make the card.

New Card

First I have to thank Penny Duncan from my Sure Cuts A Lot yahoo group who created the SVG file for me to make this card. I first made this card in my weekly Friday card class. While making the card in class I kept thinking two things, that I could use my Cricut to cut out the ovals and what ever I wanted to put in the center of the ovals. The other thing I kept thinking about was that I thought this would make a great christmas card with a snowflake. I used the SVG file that Penny created to cut the card. I than ran card through my snowflake cuttlebug folder and embossed it. I cut two snowflakes from the Accent Essentials cartridge and ran both of them through my Xyron. I covered them in white glitter then ran them back through my Xyron and stuck them together back to back with a ribbon down the middle so I could have the snowflake dangle from the middle of the card. Retirement Card

Here is a retirement card and made this afternoon for a co-worker. The green paper is from Bazzil and I embossed it with Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dot embossing folder. The patterned paper is from Stampin Up. The ribbon is just plain white twill adhesive ribbon that I dyed with some Ranger's distress ink in Fired Brick. I just sponged the ink onto the ribbon and allowed it to dry. I accented some of the middle of the flowers with some hand dyed skittle that I got from Cutter's Creek. The stamp is also Stampin Up. I cut the scallop with a Fiskars punch and the white circle I cut with my Cricut an Sure Cuts ALot(I don't have a punch and probably don't need one.) I am pleased how it turned out. It took me awhile to come up with what I wanted to do but once I did it came together fairly quickly. Thanks for looking.
