Love is in the Air

Here is the Valentine's Day Card I made for my hubby.  I started with a white card base cut and scored to  make a 4 1/4" X  5 1/2" card base.  I added a pink mat cut at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" and then added the red dotted mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4".

 My image is from a Cricut Imagine cartridge. Using Cricut Design Space I sized the image to about 3" and then unflattened it. Because this is an Imagine image it is already set to print and cut. Because of that the software allowed me to unflatten and print each layer separately just like it would on the Image and then cut it using my Cricut Explore.  I sprayed all the layers with some Diamond glitter and then adhered the layers together with foam tape.

I then took a 4" white paper doily I had and using my Ranger embossing dabber added embossing ink to the edges of the doily.  I then added some of the Ranger sticky embossing powder and heated it up.  I then quickly sprinkled the edges with a mix of Spun Sugar and Raspberry Distress glitter and allowed it to cool so the glitter was adhered to the doily.  I added that to my card base first then placed my layered heart on top.  I added a pin with a heart on the end and some small gems to two corners and applied them so they looked like hearts.  Finally stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Aged to Perfection

With the coming of Spring (we all hope) comes for me a lot of birthdays. So, I decided I better get a jump start on some of the cards I am going to need. I recently heard of a sunburst or starburst card and of course I had to give it a try. I started with 4 different pieces of patterned paper cut 1 1/2" X 4". Take each strip and cut it diagonally corner to corner to form two triangles. Lay your triangles out point side down and decide on the pattern you want. Next, cut a piece of scrap card stock 2 3/4" X 5".  First thing to do is to find the center of the paper along the 5" side. I drew a line from top to bottom to mark my center. Next I covered the entire piece of card stock with some Glue n Seal. Starting from the center of your card stock you start applying your triangle pieces being sure to let the hang off of each end of the paper a bit and be sure you are covering the entire piece of card stock. You may have to adjust your placement to be sure the corners are covered. One done allow it to dry and the cut all the overhanging excess paper off. Next I adhered the entire panel to another piece of white card stock cut at 3 3/4" 5". And, Joy of Joy's I got to try out my new mini perfect layers when I cut my black mat. I used the 1/8" side and it was fast an easy to get a perfectly centered mat behind my image layer. I also added a 1/2" x 5" piece of black card stock to the front of my card. I then cut a butterfly out at 2 3/4" using my Cameo and some green and black card stock. Before adhering the layers together I decided I wanted to glitter my butterfly. I pressed the black layer of the butterfly into my Versamark embossing pad and sprinkled it with some Ranger Sticky Embossing powder. I think everyone should have some of this embossing powder it is awesome, because, when you heat it up it goes from the white powder to shiny and becomes sticky. I then sprinkled the layer with some of the Black Soot Distress Glitter and then briefly heated the whole thing again to make sure the glitter was permanently adhered. It was quick and easy with the Sticky Embossing powder and I don't have glitter falling off my project. The Distress Glitters are also a special order item and they are all gorgeous. Some of the prettiest glitter I've seen. Once I had the butterfly done, I adhere the two layers together with some Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. I adhered the butterfly to my card front with some of the Clear 3D foam pads.  I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and added some bling to finish it off. Thanks for visiting. Box Card

Today I have a unique card for you. I call it a Box Card. I first saw this card here. There is a link on the blog to a YouTube video tutorial. Isn't this just the cutest thing ever??? To make the card, I started with a piece of Kraft card stock cut to 8 1/4" X 9". On the 9" side score your card stock at 2 1/8", 4 1/4" 6 3/8" and 8 1/2". Then turn the card stock so are scoring on the 8 1/4" side and score your card stock at 2 3/4". With the 2 3/4" score line to your left you want to cut your card stock to 6". From the piece you just cut off, you want to cut a piece that is 3 1/8" wide, then cut that piece in half lengthwise. From there it gets a bit tricky. Still an easy card, but I would suggest you watch this tutorial video. This helps explain where to cut the card stock and how to assemble the box part of the card.

 Back panel (does not get folded) red base mat is  5 7/8" X 8" and the white mat is 5 3/4" X 1 7/8". I stamped the white mat with my sentiment using Love Letters Memento ink. The heart flowers were cut using my Silhouette. I used Glossy Accents on the two heart flowers and covered the smaller on in Picked Raspberry Distress Glitter and the larger on with Festive Berries Distress Glitter. The Distress Glitters are a special order item just ask. To cover the bottom panels cut your red mats at 2" X 3 1/8" and the patterned paper at 1 7/8" X 3". To cover the top panels cut your red mats at 2" X 2 5/8" and your patterned paper at 1 7/8" X 2 1/2".

Then decorate and embellish as you wish. I used some print and cut images cut with my Silhouette. I used the Spica Red Glitter pen to add some sparkle to my Bear Lady Bug's antenna's and to the word love on my word label. I used the Blossom Spica Pen to add sparkle to the words Never Ends. My lady bug bear is attached to the back panel with an Action Wobble. I used my Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive and ATG gun to put the card together. Rosette Thanksgiving Wreath

I wanted to make a Thanksgiving Wreath for my house but wanted something a little different.  So, I decided to make a Rosette Wreath!  I love how it turned out. For my wreath, I started with six sheets of 8 1/2" X 11" card stock. I chose to use two different colors for my rosette wreath. Using my Scoreboard I scored on the paper every 3/4" of an inch on the 11" inch side. Once I had all my paper scored, I folded it accordion style. To adhere my rosette together I used some 1/2" Kool-Tak. It is very similar to scor-tape. I then cut two 6" circles and hot glued them to the front and back of the rosette to hold it in place. My turkey is from the Silhouette Store and was cut using my Cameo and some brown card stock. I used the offset feature in the Design software to create a shadow for my turkey and cut that out of some light rusty orange paper. I sprayed the brown layer of my turkey with some Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. My letters were cut from the A Child's Year Cricut Cartridge at 4". I cut these out of the same card stock as the turkey's shadow. I applied some Glossy Glue and Seal to each letter and sprinkled them with some of the Rusty Hinge Distress Glitter. The distress glitter is a special order item, so just ask if you want some. I finished the wreath with a bow at the bottom. I made a loop out of the ribbon and hot glued it to the top of the wreath so I could hang it. The wreath actually went together really quickly so this is something you could put together for just about any occasion. You could also use patterned paper for an entirely different look. I thought these colors just gave the appearance of the turkey's tail all fanned out. Let me know what you think, I would love it if you left me a comment.

Fight Like a Girl!

I am sure you are aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Cutter's Creek Design Team is encouraging all women to get their annual mammogram!!! So I have a Breast Cancer Awareness card for you today!

My card is a center panel step card, and is cut with my Silhouette Cameo. I used a white card stock base and some pink Core' dinations card stock. I embossed the small side pieces with the Juliet Damask Anna Griffin Embossing border folders and the center decorative piece with the main embossing folder. Kim, can order this folder for you. I cut the ribbon symbol with my Silhouette and using some Glue and Seal added some Spun Sugar Distress glitter. (Yes, this is a special order item, but please just ask)! I attached this to the card with some foam squares. My sentiments were stamped from the Jillian Vance Design stamps with some Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. I used two sentiments from the set. Distress Glitter Peak

I am sure you have heard me mention before about the Clubs I join over at the Cutters Creek Yahoo Group! Well, I am in a new club and just received my first shipment of the Rangers Distress Glitter. Talk about beautiful!!!  I know you want to see them for yourself right??? Well, today I don't have a project for you, but I do have a short video letting you have a peak at the 4 colors I received from this month's shipment. Want to see?? Here goes. . .
