Happy Fall Y'all!

Well the 3d CardzTV Designers are back with our first challenge of the fall.  This weeks challenge is to make a 3D Fall Card.  This is what I came up with.

My card is a Double Dutch fold card.  You start with a piece of cards stock 4 3/16" X 9".  You score this piece of card stock at 5 1/2" that makes the top fold of the card.  You also need a piece of card stock 2" x 8 1/2".  This is scored at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8".  Attach the smaller piece of card stock to the back of the lower edge of the bigger piece.  The two flaps fold over to the front similar to a gate fold card.

My card base is made from Kraft card stock. To cover the larger flap up top you need a piece of card stock cut at 4" x 3 1/4".  I used a rusty orange piece of card stock from my stash.  I also cut little pieces to cover the flaps.  I cut mine at 1 7/8" X 1 7/8".  I embossed all to cover pieces with a Darice embossing folder called Autumn Leaves.  It is really a pretty embossing folder. Once I embossed the pieces I sprayed them lightly with some Tattered Angels Sugar Maple glimmer mist and let dry.

Next I cut my little scarecrow from the Simply Charms cartridge at 2 3/4".  I attached him with an action wobble so he can wave hello to everyone.  My sentiment is from the Thankful for You Cardztv Stamp set.  I cut the sentiment into 3 pieces so I could stamp it on Kraft cardstock to get the results I wanted.

Autumn Leaves

I recently received the new Tim Holtz Fall Leaf cutting die with the Texture fades embossing folder. I love the leaf. Of course I had to try it out.

I die cut my leaf with my eBosser out of some dark coral patterned paper. I then ran it through the embossing folder. I wanted the embossing to stand out more, so I inked the leaf with several distress inks. I used Rusty Hinge around the outside of the leaf to help it stand out. Then  I thought, it needs more yellow highlights and some shine to it. So I spritzed it with Sugar Maple and Sun Sister Glimmer Mist. Once that dried I still thought it could use more yellow gold highlights so I broke out my Twinkling H2O's and added some Mambo Mango starting at the center of the leaf and moving out from the center to each leaf.

While I waited for that to dry, I started putting  my card base together. I started with Kraft card stock and cut it at 4 1/4" then scored it at 5 1/2" to make a portrait style card. I added golden color mat and then some patterned paper. These were cut at 1/8" smaller from the previous layer.  I then added another gold mat cut at 1/4" smaller and the light tan patterned paper cut at 1/8" smaller than the gold mat. I adhered this to the card with some foam tape.

Finally I stamped my sentiment with some Rusty Hinge distress ink and adhered my leaf directly to the card. To finish I added some golden brown mosaic tiles to the upper right and lower right corner of the card.  I am in love with that die.

Rosette Thanksgiving Wreath

I wanted to make a Thanksgiving Wreath for my house but wanted something a little different.  So, I decided to make a Rosette Wreath!  I love how it turned out. For my wreath, I started with six sheets of 8 1/2" X 11" card stock. I chose to use two different colors for my rosette wreath. Using my Scoreboard I scored on the paper every 3/4" of an inch on the 11" inch side. Once I had all my paper scored, I folded it accordion style. To adhere my rosette together I used some 1/2" Kool-Tak. It is very similar to scor-tape. I then cut two 6" circles and hot glued them to the front and back of the rosette to hold it in place. My turkey is from the Silhouette Store and was cut using my Cameo and some brown card stock. I used the offset feature in the Design software to create a shadow for my turkey and cut that out of some light rusty orange paper. I sprayed the brown layer of my turkey with some Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. My letters were cut from the A Child's Year Cricut Cartridge at 4". I cut these out of the same card stock as the turkey's shadow. I applied some Glossy Glue and Seal to each letter and sprinkled them with some of the Rusty Hinge Distress Glitter. The distress glitter is a special order item, so just ask if you want some. I finished the wreath with a bow at the bottom. I made a loop out of the ribbon and hot glued it to the top of the wreath so I could hang it. The wreath actually went together really quickly so this is something you could put together for just about any occasion. You could also use patterned paper for an entirely different look. I thought these colors just gave the appearance of the turkey's tail all fanned out. Let me know what you think, I would love it if you left me a comment.

All Occasion Card

I recently signed up for Kim's 6 X 6" paper pad club and received this gorgeous Authentic paper pad called Remembrance. It is  filled with lots of dark deep purples and light lavenders and greens. I absolutely love it!!

So today I have a card I made using several papers from that paper pad. In fact the only paper not from the pad, is the white card stock card base. I hope you love it as much as I do. I started with a white card base cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base.  I then cut a dark purple mat also 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" and adhered it to my card. I wanted the dark purple to show but not the white card base. I then picked 4 patterned papers from the pack and cut them at 2 1/2" x 1 7/8" and adhered them to my purple mat. I used my ATG gun to adhere the mats down. I was browsing through the silhouette store and came across this lacy butterfly and flower cut out which I fell in love with. Of course I had to use it for my card. I cut the top layer out of more of the dark purple paper from the paper pad. The cut did not come with a back layer so I used the offset feature in the software to create a back layer which I cut out of white card stock. I used my Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere these two layers together. I allowed it try and then sprayed it lightly with some Iridescent Glitter Dust. (Another favorite product of mine!). I had this little wooden butterfly in my stash so I painted it with some Seedless Preserves Distress Stain. (This is a special order item, contact Kim through the store customer service link for information on how to order). Once that dry I spritzed it with some Lavender Fresh Glitter Mist spray. I attached the circle to the center of my card using some foam pads I received from Kim as a gift for being in her Adhesive club. (That was an awesome club to be a part of. Be sure to sign up for the Cutters Creek Yahoo group to get the inside scoop on the clubs.) I used some small glue dots to attach my butterfly to the circle. I haven't added a sentiment to my card because I think it could be used for many different occasions, like Birthday, Thinking of You, Get Well, or even a Sympathy card.

Love Banner

It feels like it has been forever since I worked on any projects. That nasty virus I got sure took it out of me but I am doing much better now, thankfully. I finally had some energy this weekend to work on a project.


The heart doily's are from the Silhouette store and cut with my Cameo. The word is cut from a font on my computer using the Cameo as well.  I sprayed the white hearts with some Pearl glimmer mist and the pink hearts with some Juneberry Wine glimmer mist. I created a black shadow for my letters using the offset feature in the Silhouette software. I attached the letters to the hearts with some foam tape.

Next I took some wide off-white satin ribbon and sprayed it with the Juneberry Wine glimmer mist. I used some Beacons 3-in-1 glue to attach the hearts to the ribbon. The next decision was how to hang it on the wall. I had a 6 X 6 paper pad that had a little plastic thing at the top so it could hang in the stored. So, I took that off the back of the paper pad since it didn't need to hang from anything here, cut it down a little bit to fit behind my ribbon and glued it to the ribbon with some Beacons 3-in-1 glue.

Fall Banner

So Kim recently added some great products from Canvas Corp to the store and of course I had to try some out. I got some of the mini Burlap Mini Triangles. These are just so cute and versatile. I decided I had to make a Fall Banner out of them. I started by spraying them with some glimmer mist. I used Rum Punch, Sugar Maple, Sun Sisters, and a little Coffee Shop.

I then used the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die to cut my leaves. (Kim doesn't have this die in the store but I bet she can get it for you.) I used my awesome new eBosser to die cut my leaves. (love that machine!!!) I used some of the Tangerine My Minds Eye paper to cut my leaves. I inked my leaves with some distress inks in fall colors.

For the word FALL I used the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge and the Tim Holtz Kraft Core Paper (Kim can get this for you). I cut each layer 4 times so I has some thickness to my letters. I then embossed them using the Clear Gloss WOW! embossing powder. I did embossed my letters twice. I then attached everything to my burlap triangles. I then painted some of the natural mini clothes pins with some Indian Summer Glimmer Glaze (a special order item from the store).

To finish my banner I used some gold colored hemp and hung each triangle from the hemp with the clothes pins.

Wedding Card

A friend at work asked me if I could make her a card to take to a wedding she is going to in a couple of weeks. This is what I came up with.

I cut my card base using the Sophie cartridge at 5 1/2".  I used my Gypsy to hide the cut out that was on the front of the card. I then cut the layer at 5 1/4" so it was just a little smaller than my card base. My card base once folded measures 5 1/2" X 4 1/2" so it will fit in some invitation envelopes I picked up at Walmart awhile back. I embossed this layer with the three dots folder I have from Sizzix. I added this layer to the card front with some foam tape. I spritzed this layer and my white bride and groom with some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist which gave it a light gold shimmer.

I cut my bride and groom from white cardstock at 3 1/2" and the shadow out of black and adhered them together. I adhered the bride and groom to the card front with some foam tape as well. I then used some White Liquid Pearls to add pearls to the back of the dress, the brides hair and to the scallops on the card. Finally I stamped my sentiment with a CardzTV stamp and adhered that to the card front with some foam tape as well and then added a sheer white ribbon tied in bow to the fold of the card.

I am entering this card in the challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut where the challenge is to make a Wedding or Anniversary card. And I am entering it in the CardzTV Design Team challenge which is anything goes.

Happy Mother's Day Card

I recently received my new Tim Holtz Spring Distress Inks. Wow, are they beautiful. I love them. I decided to make my own background paper using some Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers. I started with a piece of white card stock cut to 3 3/4" X 5". I used a flourished background stamp from Hero Arts (yes, Kim can get this for you, just let her know) and inked it generously with the Snow Cap acrylic paint. Once the paint dried I used my sponge applicator to apply the ink to my paper. I love how it turned out. For my card, I started with a piece of white card stock cut and folded to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a gold patterned paper mat from My Minds Eye. Then I added the background paper I made. To finish the card, I added one of the Kaisercraft Dress Forms. I painted my dress form with Eggplant Paint Dabber. I then spritzed it with some Dragonfly Glimmer Mist. Once that dried I spritzed it lightly with some Pearl Glimmer Mist. I cut a mat for my sentiment from the Elegant Edges cartridge at 1 1/4". I used the same ink colors to ink up my shadow mat and then inked the edges with the Lilac color and stamped my sentiment with the lilac color. I added some pearls to finish my card. Tag It Challenge

The challenge this month at Scrappy Frogs is to make a project and use a tag on it. Here is what I came up with.

I started with Kraft card stock that I cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a dark olive green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then my patterned paper cut at 3 3/4" X 5". I cut my tag at 3" from the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge. I stamped a flourish pattern on the tag with some VersaMark ink. Then using my distress inks and foam applicator I started layering on colors. I used Wild Honey, Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, and Dusty Concord.  To finish my card, I added a narrow purple ribbon to the tag. The butterflies were cut from the Indie Cartridge at 1 1/4", 1" and 3/4". I spritzed them lightly with some Pearl Glimmer Mist. I also cut a couple of flourished from the Home Decor cartridge. I believe I cut those a 1 1/2" (sorry I can't remember the exact size). I added the flourish to the card and topped them with my butterflies. Finally I added some roses that are from Recollections. I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The sentiment says Friends fill your  life with joy, Your soul with sunshine, and your heart with love. I really liked that sentiment. Birthday Card by Deanna M

I have for you today a birthday card I made for a friend to give to her Mom. My card base is a piece of green cardstock cut and scored to 4 1/4” X 5 1/2”. I added a mat from the Mod Squad Cut and Emboss paper pack cut to 4” X 5 1/4” and then a patterned paper mat from the Prima Botanical paper collection cut to 3 3/4” X 5. I then used Elegant Edges to cut a mat for my butterfly at 3”. I used the same paper as my first mat for the base layer of the mat for the butterfly. I then used a piece of paper from the Whitewashed Cut and Emboss paper pack for the top layer. I ran that layer through my Cuttlebug and embossed it with Sizzix Embossing folder called Dots and Flowers Embossing folder and sanded it so the colored green core showed through (and yes, Kim can order this for you. You get two folders in the package).

My butterfly on this card is once again one of the laser cut embellishments by Kaisercraft. I am so loving these embellishments. (And, yes Kim can order these for you too!) They are so easy to work with, are not too think and add a great dimension and elegance to a card. For the butterfly I started off by using my craft mat and rubbing some different colors of Distress Ink on my mat, spritzing with water and them placing the butterfly in the ink on my mat. I used Persimmon, Concord Grape and Broken China Distress Ink. I let it dry for a bit then spritzed it with similar colors of glimmer mist. Again I let that dry and then added some Glimmer Glam in Violet and a Copper color. Once again I allowed that layer to dry. I then added some Glimmer Glaze to the antenna’s and around the orange areas of the butterfly. I then went back with a bit more Persimmon distress ink. I let all that dry overnight (only because it was bedtime). The final layer I added some Pearl glimmer mist. This butterfly is so iridescent looking in person. I adhered my  the butterfly to my mat with some of the ASI Kool Tak tape clear gel foam tape.

The flower I added to the card is a Cutter’s Creek Gardenia. The flower was actually yellow but it just didn’t go with the card as well as I likes, so I spritzed it with some Honey Dew Mist glimmer mist, and problem solved. It softened the butter yellow of the flower and gave it a light green color which went much better with my card. I then stamped my sentiment with some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink. Finally I added some Copper Pearl liquid pearls to the tip of each antenna. Sure hope you have enjoyed my project and that I have inspired you to get out your goodies and make a project.

Mother's Day Card

Guess what I have for you today! Remember those wooden laser embellishments by Kaisercraft Cutter' Creek shared awhile back? I was able to get some of the Dress Forms and have a Mother's Day card made with them. I am loving these embellishments. They are so thin but still add a bit of dimension to your card.

Check out the cute dress forms you get in the package. Don't be surprised to see more projects featuring these cute dress forms. (If you are interested in these please let Kim at Cutter's Creek know, she can special order them for you. If there is enough interest, we may be able to convenience her to carry them in the store.) Okay, on to my card. I started with a cream colored card stock card base cut and scored to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" My first mat is cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and it is from the Mod Squad Core'denations Cut and Emboss paper. I used the reverse side of one of the papers. To be frugal, I cut the base layer of my dress from the same piece of paper, I used the front side of the paper for the base layer. I cut the dress from the Nifty Fifties cartridge at 5 3/4". The patterned paper top layer for the dress is from the Howdy Doody My Minds Eye 6" X 6" paper pad. The patterned paper behind my dress is also from the same paper pad cut at 3 3/4" X 5".  I inked the edges of all of my papers with some Antique Linen Distress Ink. The dress form I used is the first on on the left in the picture above. I used some Oil Slick Glimmer Glaze to paint the legs on the dress form and the top little circle. (Glimmer Glaze is a special order item that I know Kim would be very happy to order for you if you are interested, just ask) I sprayed the remainder of the dress form with some Old Lace Glimmer Mist and inked it lightly with some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I used some Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere my dress layers together and adhere them to the wooden dress form and then adhered the dress form to my card. To finish my card, I added a piece of lace from my stash. I adhered the lace with some of the 1/8" Scor-Tape. I added a small pearl to the center of the belt area of the dress, and then 3 larger pearls to the lower side of the card. I stamped my sentiment with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Love is in the Air

I am so excited, Janis asked me to be guest designer for the new challenge at Paper Playtime. The theme is to use your Cricut and Hearts or Love. This is what I came up with.

I used the Birthday Bash cartridge to cut my card base at 5 1/2". I then cut a red mat and a patterned paper mat. The patterned paper is from a K & Company Valentine's Day paper stack from last year. Then using the Sweethearts cartridge, I cut all of the layers for the heart at 4". On my white card stock card base. I inked the card front with some Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I then used some Pearl Glimmer Mist on all my layers and then stamped the XOXO with some Memento Lady Bug ink. To finish the card I added some dark pink pearls to each corner of the card and the mat layer. I love how this turned out.

XOXO Banner

I have been wanting to use my Ribbon and Rosettes cartridge that I got for Christmas and finally had a chance to when I made this Valentine's Day Banner.  I used the heart rosette and cut it at 3 1/2". I cut 6 sections and adhered them together with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. My patterned paper is from a K & Company Valentine's Day paper pack that I got two years ago and also from one from last year. I then cut the heart from the Sweethearts Cartridge at 4". I cut the shadow out of pink and the main layer out of white. I then spritz everything with some Tattered Rose Glimmer Mist. I also used the George and Basic Shapes cartridge to cut a 3" circle that I adhered to the back of the Rosettes. I used Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive to attach the hearts to the front of my rosettes and the circles to the back of the rosettes.

For the top and bottom rosettes I cut the cupid from the Sweethearts cartridge at 3 1/2". I cut the shadow from black and the cupid from red. I then sprayed the cupid with the Tattered Rose and Black Cherry glimmer mist and the coated it lightly with the Pinata Glimmer Glaze that I just got from Cutters Creek. (It is beautiful). Finally I added some Thistle Stickles to the heart for added glitz.

For the middle rosette I cut the XOXO from the Tie the Knot cartridge at 1 /2". I used the same colors for the shadow and base layer and white for the layer on the first X. I sprayed these also with the Tattered Rose and Black Cherry glimmer mist and thistle stickles to the white layer of the X. I adhered all these cuts with some gel foam tape. Finally I adhered each rosette to a piece of cream colored ribbon also lightly sprayed with Tattered Rose glimmer mist. I used some Beacons 3 in 1 glue to adhere the rosettes to the ribbon. I also made a loop from a small piece of the ribbon and attached it to the top layer to hang the banner. I am really pleased how this turned out. I always have a hard time taking good photos of my banners but in person it is really shimmery. Thanks for visiting.

Love You! Valentines Day Card.

Well for a lot of us the holiday decorations are put away and the kids have gone back to school. I had to go back to work today (bummer!) So it is time to start thinking about the next upcoming holiday, Valentines Day. It is also time to start using all those new crafting goodies you all got over the holidays. To help you out on both counts, I have this Valentines Day card to share with you all.

I started with a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card stock base. I added a black mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then one more white mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5" and finally a patterned paper from the My Minds Eye Sunshine 6" X 6" Paper pad. I inked the edges of all the mat layers with some Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. For the image on my card, I used the Paper Trimmings cartridge (a circle exclusive sorry). I cut both layers at 3 1/2" and cut the bottom layer from white card stock and the open top layer from red card stock. Using the same cartridge I cut a circle at 2 1/2" out of black card stock. The Love sentiment is from the Tie the Knot cartridge (which I believe Cutters Creek customer service can special order for you, just ask) and cut at 2". Now to glitz up the card I a bit I sprayed the white background of the heart frame image and the Love with Pearl Glimmer Mist. Pearl is still one of my favorite colors and a great color for those just getting started with Glimmer Mist. It is a wonderful way to has simmer and shine and a glittery look to something without having to break out the glitter and glue. For my black circle I first spritz the black with some Slate Glimmer Mist. Then I used some Oil Slick Glimmer Glaze (this is a special order item again, just ask Customer Service at the Cutters Creek site for help). I am so pleased with the effect I got from the glaze on the circle. It really darkened the color and left the circle with this nice shiny glaze to it.  I strongly urge you all to give the glaze a try sometime. Now for the red layer on the heart frame and the heart from the sentiment. To be honest I first spritzed both of them with some Rum Punch Glimmer Mist. While I loved the sparkle it was really just a tad to light and didn't give me the affect I was looking for. So what to do? I took out my Bordeaux Glimmer Glam (another special order item from Cutters Creek) and brush on a couple of coats of it on my two red pieces. Love the look and depth of color I got. One more fun way to add shimmer and shine to a project. I layered all the images together and after adding a piece of red ribbon for color to my card front adhered the heart frame image with some ASI Kool Tak Clear Foam Pads. To finish the card I added some red rhinestones from Want2Scrap and some smaller white pearls from my stash.

Merry Christmas Poinsetta Card

I made a card this afternoon with the Spellbinder Poinsettia Die. Love the die. I decided instead of doing a traditional red Poinsettia I wanted to do a white one inked lightly in pink. I started with a piece of white card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. The patterned paper is from My Minds Eye and I opted to use both sides of the paper for my mats. I cut the green mat at 4" X 5 1/4" and the red poinsettia mat at 3 3/4" X 5".  I cut and embossed the flower with my Cuttlebug and the No More Shims mat as well as the Cuttlebug mats. Before removing the cuts from the dies I lightly inked the embossed areas with some Spun Sugar distress ink. I also inked the flower tips once I removed them from the die. After allowing the ink to dry a bit a lightly sprayed the flower layers with some Tattered Rose glimmer mist. Sure made them sparkle. Once it was dry and adhered the flower layers together and added a yellow pearl for the center. I adhered the leaf to the flower and attached everything with some foam tape to my card base. I am not happy with how the sentiment came out. I decided to emboss the sentiment and used some Versamark to stamp the sentiment and some Satin Pearl Transparent embossing powder but it ended up a looking a bit gray but otherwise I love the card. the sentiment actually looks a bit better in the light in person.

Cutter's Creek Echo Park Blog Hop

Welcome to the Cutters Creek Design Team  Echo Park Paper Blog Hop! If you just came from Lori's blog you are on the right track! If you just stopped by my blog, you can begin the hop at the CCDT blog here. Here is what I made for you today (Sorry this picture isn't better, I had trouble photographing the full project).

For  my blog hop project I made a home decor project, a Happy Halloween sign. To make the sign I started with 3 pieces of chipboard cut to 5" X 7" and covered them with papers cut to size from the  12" X 12" Apothecary Collection Kit. You could easily size this down to a 6" X 6" square and use the 6" X 6" paper pack as well to make this. The next big decision was how to decorate them. For the top and middle layer I used cuts from the Happy Hauntings cartridge, for the bottom layer I used a cut from the Imagine Enjoy the Seasons cartridge and tons of ASI Kool Tak between all the layers of the cuts to provide dimension and depth to the project.

For my top panel I cut the word Spooky at 2" from white and black card stock from my stash. The background paper is of course Echo Park . I used the Graveyard cut from the Happy Hauntings cartridge and cut it and all the layers at 4". I cut the headstone layer from some light gray paper and misted it with some Slate and Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Mist. I also sprayed the fence with some of the Slate Glimmer Mist. I layered everything with pop dots. For the grass layer I mixed some Ultra Fine Flower Soft in Sage and Pine and adhered it with the flower soft glue. The orange piece for the gate sign is part of the cut. However the Beware that cut just wasn't working for me so I grabbed this Haunted sticker from the paper kit. The small pendant banner is also from the Apothecary Collection Kit.

 For my middle panel, I cut the Happy Halloween from the Happy Hauntings cartridge at 2". Both layers are cut from patterned paper from the Apothecary kit. I sprayed the bottom layer with the Slate  Glimmer Mist and sprayed the orange layer with some Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Mist. My spider webs were cut from the October 31 mini cartridge at 3" from some Silver POW Glitter Paper. The spider goes with the witches hat on the Happy Hauntings cartridge and was cut from the Charcoal Pow Glitter Paper. Again, I pop dotted between the Happy Halloween layers as well as pop dotted it to my sign for lots of dimension. The black and white lace looking border is also a sticker from the paper kit.

For the bottom layer I printed the haunted house from the Cricut Imagine Enjoy the Season's cartridge using the layers function. I pop dotted all the layers for tons of dimension. I added the Sage and Pine Ultra Fine flower soft to the grassy area under the house and adhered it with the flower soft glue. Finally I bound the individual panels together with my Bind-it-All and some black Bind-it-All wires.

 To get you in the mood for Halloween I have one of the 6" X 6" Apothecary Echo Park Paper pads and two adorable Studio G clear Halloween stamps. Vintage Card

The challenge this week at the Scrappy Frogs is to make a vintage card. This was a tough one for me, I don't make many vintage style cards. I came across this paper at my LSS and knew it would be perfect for the challenge. The paper is by Cosmo Cricket.

My card base is what card stock scored and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I cut a mat from the polka dot paper 4" X 5 1/4" and the flowered paper was cut at 3 3/4" X 5". and then added another strip of the polka dot paper (sorry I can't remember the size). The lace is actually a white lace that I sprayed with some Santa Baby and Old Lace glimmer mist. Finally I cut a stripped mat to fit my image and adhered everything to the front of my card. The image of the girl is pop dotted to the card front. I inked the edges of everything with tea dye distress ink. To finish off the card I added a red button to the top corner. Thanks for visiting.

Freedom Banner

This month the Design Team is featuring some of their favorite Cutter's Creek products. I have decided to feature my favorite tools and the things I always reach for when crafting. The products I am featuring are Glimmer Mist, Distress Ink, Tim Holtz Non-stick Scissors, Tweezer Bee Tweezers, POW! Glitter Card stock, and Scor-Tape.

My project for you today is a Freedom Banner that I made in honor of the 4th of July. I cut my banner from the Birthday Bash cricut cartridge at 6". I cut my base from Red and Blue card stock and the top layer from some Americana paper. I inked the edges of all my cuts with some Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink to give it a vintage look. I adhered the two layers together with my ATG Gun. I then cut strips of patterned paper at 1 1/4" and scored it every 1/4" to make a Rosette. I used Scor-Tape to hold the Rosette's together.

Scor-tape is wonderful for boxes, and anything that needs a little extra strength adhesive. If you need a tutorial on how to make a Rosette, check out this post Laura did a while back. Once I had my Rosette's put together, I cut stars out at 3" from some gold starred patterend paper. To give it a little more vintage look and add some sparkle I sprayed the stars with Glimmer Mist,

I cut my letters out from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge at 3". I used more of the dark blue card stock for the shadow and some Marine POW! Glitter Paper. This paper cut perfectly with my Cricut. I used blade depth of 6 and pressure at max. I did not use Multi-cut. This paper is not has thick as the other American Craft Glitter Paper. Both of these glitter papers are gorgeous and cut wonderfully with the Cricut. The glitter on the paper does not come off like other glitter papers. I used my Tweezer Bee Tweezers to adhere the two layers of the letters together. I love these little tweezers. They really help me align and layer the smaller Cricut cuts. I highly recommend these.

Finally I adhered the letters to the stars with some foam tape. Here is another product I hgihly recommend and that is the Tim Holtz Non-stick Scissors. These scissors are non-stick and I love cutting my foam tape with them. No more sticky scissors.

I used some regular kitchen twine to to hang my banner on my fireplace. I thought the twine went with the vintage them. I am really pleased how this turned out and the glitter paper letters and just the right touch of sparkle and shine to the banner. Here are a couple of close up shots of the banner.

Just Because Card

I recently got the Kate’s ABC’s Cricut cartridge and knew immediately what I wanted to do when I saw this image on the cartridge. This image reminded me of the chives in bloom that I grow on my back patio in pots.

My card base is an A2 4 1/4” X 5 1/2” cream card stock. My orange and patterned paper is from a Basic Grey 6” X 6” paper pad I got from Cutter’s Creek several months ago and is no longer available. I really encourage you to get some of the 6” X 6” pads that Cutter’s Creek sells like the new Echo Park pads. They are great for card making, the patterns are shrunk down to be in proportion to the size and work great for cards reducing waste. Check them out.

Back to my card. I used the Elegant Edges cartridge for the decorative mat and cut both the shadow and the base image from page 38 of the handbook using the oblong creative feature.

My yellow layer of the decorative mat was actually cut out of white card stock. I used some Wild Honey Distress Ink and my Inkssentials Blending Foam and the Alcohol Ink Applicator to apply the ink in a circular motion over my entire piece of white card stock. Then I sprayed it with some Sun Sister’s Glimmer Mist. Once I sprayed the card stock and lightly blotted it with a paper towel and let it dry.

While the card stock was drying I cut out my image from page 67 of the Kate’s ABC’s handbook. I cut all the layers at 3” and followed the colors as they worked for what I wanted to do.  After adhering all the layers together I got out my Sweet Pea Flower Soft and my Flower Soft Glue and got to work. I applied the glue to the flowers and sprinkled the flower soft over the glue and tamped it down using my finger. I allowed it to dry and then gently tapped off the excess and loose flower soft.

To finish my card, I added a piece of twine from my stash to the pot and attached the image to my card front with some foam tape . I then added some pink I-Rocks Glitter Gems in two sizes using my heat set tool to each corner of my yellow mat. Love this gem set, it has several different colors and each color and several different sizes. I opted to use two sizes with a larger one in the middle.  I haven’t stamped a sentiment yet as I haven’t decided who will be getting this card and for what occasion.

It’s a Girl Mini Album

The challenge this week over at Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog  anything goes. Here is my first post as a Design Team Member. I recently bought the Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridge and knew the book creative feature would make a great mini album. I also had the want to make a mini album for a co-worker who is having her first baby, a girl this summer. Mindy challenged us to go out of our comfort zone and make something we don’t usually make. Since I am a diehard card maker what a perfect time to challenge myself to make a mini album.  The album isn’t bound yet, I am waiting for my wires for my Bind-It-All to arrive probably Monday or Tuesday and will get it bound and a picture added to this post when I do.  I used the Elegant Edges and one of the images from the cartridge to cut the image for the cover. I cut the wording from the Nursery Rhymes cricut cartridge. I sprayed the green mat with some Honey Dew Mist Glimmer Mist and the pink with Pearl Glimmer Mist.

I used the Lace Edge image from page 44 of the handbook and use the book creative feature to cut my pages at 5” for my mini album. Since I didn’t have chipboard I cut each image twice out of colored cardstock and then again from my patterned paper. To cover the base pages I used some heavy patterned paper from K & Company.

I also used Images printed and cut from my Imagine and the Nursery Tails cartridge. Lace, and trims from my stash adorn many of the pages as well as some stickers and embellishments from K & Company and from my stash.

The tag on this page is actually from the Imagine More cartridge. It is the one with the little strawberry on it. I cut it at 3” and flooded the base layer with green, the next layer with pink and then left the lined paper image as is. I did not use the strawberry or the word Sweet. All of the frames in the book are also cut from the Elegant Edges cartridge. I left the back of the back cover as is. It is the same patterned paper as the front cover. This was a huge challenge for me as I do not scrapbook and have never made a layout. This is the second mini album I have made and the first of this kind. It was a lot of work but I am very happy how it turned out.
