Over at the Cricut Cardsz Challenge blog this weeks challenge is to make a card with a cake, cupcake, cookies or candy. Any colors and any theme. Here is what I came up with.
My card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". The card base is lavendar card stock. The pink mat is 4 1/8" X 5 3/8". My patterned paper mat is 4" X 5 1/4" and is from DCWV Sweets paper stack. The cupcake is cut from Once Upon a Princess (OUAP) cricut cartridge at 3 1/2". I cut the base layer out of brown card stock so I could have a chocolate cupcake to match the ones on the patterned paper. I used some aqua card stock to cut the frosting and the base layer of the cupcake liner. I then used some light aqua and white striped paper from the same DCWV paper stack to cut the outer layer of the cupcake liner. I inked the ends of the frosting and liners with some teal ink. The sprinkles that I cut for the cupcake were done in pink but just didn't pop enough for me so I added some light pink skittle (or dew drops) on top of the which helped them pop and show up more. I added a aqua ribbon I had on hand to the side of the card and tied a knot bow. For my sentiment I cut a tag from the OUAP cartridge at 1" X 2 1/4" out of purple, 7/8" X 2.18" out of pink. I used my Gypsy to size the tags so they were wide enough without being too tall. I printed my sentiment out on the computer onto white card stock. The font I used was Hobby Horse and it is printed at 22pts. I printed the sentiment 3 times on the same sheet of paper and laid it onto my Cricut mat. Using the squares and inch marks on my Gyspy mat I placed the tags into the positions where my text was and cut them out. Of the 3 I did 2 were right on. The one thing with the Gypsy is there is no center point feature which would have made cutting out the sentiment easier. I could have cut the tag directly from the cartridge but then my width measurement would have been off. I am pleased how it turned out and it was a lot of fun to make. Thanks for visiting.
